@HockeyVice_ Yes. I don't like it, but they know more about hockey then I do.

We chatted with one @EdmontonOilers player tonight on the possibility of hiring Mike Babcock and this player said that “I can’t support the hiring of Mike and if he does become our Head Coach I will sit down with my agent to discuss my options going forward”
A story to follow.

Sources: The Edmtn Oilers are consulting with the NHLPA to see if there are objections that must be resolved before potentially hiring Mike Babcock. Amid allegations of invading players privacy, Babcock resigned in CBJ as Head Coach in 2023. Further investigation may be required.

@FriedgeHNIC The Oilers would've given him 5 years at 8 mill a season. lol

@AuthorKitaraF Me too! Last time I was at the dentist, they sat me up too quick. I passed out and split my head open.

After ruminating on the news that Mike Babcock might become the next Oilers coach, I'm starting to warm to the thought. Hear me out.
1. We all know that this team needs a seasoned coach that is a strong character to lead a group of veteran superstar players.
2. Babcock coaches with structure, something the Oilers need badly.
3. If core star players are ok with this, then that's all I need to know.
4. It's not without risk, but with McDavid's 2 year contract, this is the bold coaching move that is required.
5. I can see them also bringing in some assistant coaches that are more player-centric to help offset the demanding style of Babcock and to work with the younger players.
We shall see, but the idea may not be as horrible as my original reaction was.
