@elonmusk @Tesla Interesting that “Lithium Refining” is in your concept web but “Lithium Mining” and “Cobalt Mining” are not. I would love to believe in Tesla’s master plan but nothing that relies on human rights abuses is sustainable. We cannot go on like this forever. There must be a reckoning.

@RealMarkDEddy @thatsKAIZEN @charliekirk11 I agree that looks like a dude who has never really been challenged. He does not represent all black people though. I live in a working-class mostly-black neighborhood. This community is still strong and producing awesome people. Most aren’t buying this type of bullshit.

That looks like a dude who’s never been challenged by the word NO in his life. Racism, as a form of NO, made the black community much stronger. At least they had an enemy to overcome. Now they’re a spiritually impoverished protected class at scale with minimal enemies. Lions at the zoo.

Charlie Kirk flawlessly demonstrates how to deal with people who lie, make false accusations, pretend to be victims, and use their race and sexuality to manipulate the empathy of others.

@thatsKAIZEN You are correct that many Americans want that but I think it's a terrible idea.

If we're being honest: right now many Americans actually do want a king. Just a good one, who they can vote out.

@BN_OTAKU @thatsKAIZEN Kings can rule by fiat. They can simply say what the law is. It seems many people want that. I, for one, do not. But I think OP is correct that many Americans do seem to want that.

If you haven't heard it yet, take the next 3 minutes and 37 seconds to treat yourself to Hard Livin', the latest single from my good friends, The Gasoline Gypsies. I think this is their best release yet, but I might just be biased because of that tasty violin work in there ;) It was a real pleasure working on this with you, guys. This record is definitely one of my proudest accomplishments. Thank you for including me! "Hard Livin' is about getting caught in the grind of work life. This is a song for the hardworking folks—the ones who show up, put in the effort, and get it done. Find it on all streaming platforms." youtube.com/watch?v=Zd3Z6s…

@thatsKAIZEN I think the detainees should be given the opportunity to argue their innocence in court prior to deportation so as to avoid sending innocent men to a Salvadoran prison. I pretty much agree with what you are saying and I appreciate your explanation of the nuances of it.

Trump deporting Tren De Aragua isn’t necessarily unconstitutional. It is unprecedented. The Alien Enemies Act can be used by the President without pre-approval from a judge. It has only ever been used during wars, but can be used in the event of a foreign invasion. Trump’s team argued that Tren de Aragua is controlled by the Venezuelan government and that this is an invasion. After the President takes action it can be subjected to judicial review, and that’s what’s happening. The review will help verify whether Tren de Aragua is government-controlled and whether the Alien Enemies Act can be used to deport people who are already here, during peacetime. It’s a good opportunity to clarify the law. Trump is definitely pushing the law to the limits here and a judicial review is appropriate - particularly to make sure everyone deported was actually a TdA member. If they made a mistake it should be rectified - no innocent man should rot in jail. But that’s all heady stuff. Here’s what many Americans are feeling in their hearts: After 4 years of Biden pushing the law to its limits to force vaccinations, censor us, and control us while the nation declines, it’s nice to see Trump pushing the limits for Americans, not against us. He also said he’d deport Tren De Aragua using the Alien Enemies Act as recently as October. He’s doing exactly what he promised.
Michael Shellenberger@shellenberger

Every single Trump advisor, including and especially @StephenM, knows perfectly well that what they did is unconstitutional.

@ArtemisConsort Way before that. 16th Amendment was ratified in 1913. That was a massive deviation which enabled further degradation of Liberty. Even that wasn’t the beginning of this disaster. Major point of inflection though.

@ArtemisConsort Interesting point. Has liberalism even been a choice in the last 100+ years though? Seems like our politics is more of a “choose your own fascist adventure” story.

If liberals want to avoid creating fascists, they should make sure the systems they run actually function. If liberalism is equated with 10,000 pages of environmental review to build a house while murderers roam free, then the people will choose fascism.

@ArtemisConsort All 5 are reasonable answers, but in my opinion, B is the one that is most meaningfully different from the others. And it is “odd” in multiple ways. So I’d say B is by far the best answer. It’s interesting seeing the strong opinions behind the other answers. Explains a lot.

@thatsKAIZEN I agree. But Bill Burr is a comedian - and a damned funny one at that - not a thought leader. I suppose it is possible to be both. I don’t think that is Burr’s role though. I don’t see him that way, and I don’t think he sees himself that way. He just wants to make people laugh.

@romi_botez @RepMikeCollins Marginal tax rates mean you only pay that percentage on income above the threshold. For example, if a person had a salary of $200k, he would only pay $17,500 in taxes. That’s 35% of the taxable $50k. So he would take home $182,500. That make sense?

@RepMikeCollins While that sounds great, I hope you realize that assuming a 35% tax rate, jobs paying between 150 and 204k would completely disappear. Why would a worker want to make 200K and take home 130k when they can just get a job paying 150k?…
