BREAKING: I just signed the bill to extend postpartum coverage for Wisconsin moms from a lousy 60 days to one full year after giving birth. I promised I'd never stop fighting to make sure moms and babies had the postpartum care they need, and today, I delivered on that promise.

Black woman, this is your reminder. Hear this and hold it close. You are beautiful. You are perfectly imperfect. You are already enough. You don’t have to be everything for everybody or save the world to be worthy. Move with love. Move with faith. Move knowing you are THAT GIRL! This one is for the sis. Always. 🫶🏾 #BET #WomensHistoryMonth

Kiki Shepard, the beloved co-host of Showtime at the Apollo, has passed away at 74. In the 1980's at a time where women of color were rarely centered on television she stood as a symbol of elegance, glam, excellence, and cultural pride. A Howard University graduate who finished in the top 10% of her class and a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Shepard carried the legacy of Black excellence with her wherever she went. Kiki Shepard leaves behind a legacy that is both timeless and deeply felt. #KikiShepard #BETRemembers

Black History Month is a time to recognize the lived, shared experience of all Black folks who have fundamentally shaped, challenged, and ultimately strengthened America. It’s about taking an unvarnished look at the past so that we can create a better future. As we mark 100 years of celebrating Black history, let’s honor the sacrifices of the leaders who came before us, and recommit ourselves to continuing their work.

Belva Davis, the FIRST Black woman TV reporter on the West Coast, has passed at 92. A true barrier breaker, she was often asked to leave press events — just for being a Black woman. Yet she rose, earning Emmys and national respect. Rest in Power to a legend.
