@LoiAwat Hello Loi. I am working on a story on women in the comic book & animation space @africomicempire & came across your profile, which fascinated me. We published a bit about you already, but I would love to have a call to learn a bit more. Kindly let me know when it is a good time.

Prof Peter Odhiambo is seen here with General China after conducting an operation on him to remove a bullet that had been lodged in his chest, just close to the neck for 36 years. When General China of Mau Mau was shot and captured by British forces in 1952, it never occurred to him that one of the bullets had penetrated his chest and embedded itself at the root of his neck. Although what China assumed to be a normal bullet wound later healed, it didn't take long before he began experiencing symptoms similar to those of Bronchial asthma. One day experiencing breathing problems, he decided to visit KNH for treatment in 1988. An X-ray was done and whoa!, a bullet shaped object was observed at the central part of the upper chest, behind the upper limit of the breastbone. Dr Odhiambo asked China whether he had ever been shot, and he replied in the affirmative. Without any more questions , China was referred to the thoracic and cardiovascular surgical unit where Prof Odhiambo assisted by a team of medics carried out the delicate operation to remove the bullet that appeared rusty. It was later handed to National Museums of Kenya. Making the Cut, the autobiography of Kenya's first Thoracic and cardiovascular surgeon is a good read. You can contact Prof's daughter Loi Awat for copies ahead of the launch in December.

To the “I’m Luo but” gang, I hope the past two days have opened your eyes. Even after Baba’s passing, the hate toward the Luo remains unmasked. When he lived, you said it was Odinga they despised. Now that he’s gone, what excuse is left?

I’m afraid that even after 62 years of being a nation, some of us are still not familiar with the cultural nuances of other communities. In some cultures, hyperbole is a natural part of self-expression, especially in highly-emotive situations. There’s no need to insult the man.😅

This is how people in Western mourn. That’s culture. If it’s different from your culture that’s also fine. Let people mourn the best way they know how.

Sometimes it's good to see people's prejudice and tribalism on full display. They will say what they've always meant in their hearts. Take note. We are all tribal.

False He raises all Citizen Journalists There may be more to that particular story He raised your podcast to new heights, in fact, I never would’ve listened had it not been for him. How, as such a wonderful student of history, can you continue to side with the other side given what is going on in Britain 🇬🇧? I’m so utterly disappointed

I’ve seen a few people suggest I should join politics and while I deeply appreciate the sentiment, I need to be honest with you, this is where we go wrong. Being vocal about injustice shouldn’t automatically make someone a political candidate. Speaking up should be a collective responsibility, not a career path, not a shortcut to power, and definitely not something we do for applause. The only thing I know for sure is this, I have a platform, and I will use it to call out injustice. It’s a personal choice. I’m not afraid of the consequences. There is no brand I’m protecting here. Cancel me if you want My so-called “brand” is made up of over 1.3 million subscribers ,real people. And I’d be damned to assume any of them is okay with what’s happening right now. I’d be equally damned to believe I deserve a political seat simply because I’m vocal. Most of these politicians have mastered the game. They know how to perform outrage, sell hope, and trick us into confusing advocacy for leadership. They’ll promise you Nairobi will become New York. That “bottom-up” will uplift the mwananchi, that land injustices will be fixed. That vijana watapata kazi But I’m not here for the narrative. I’m not here for the political stage. Maybe one day. But not now!! Right now, I’m here to use my voice and my platform to speak truth so that people like Albert Ojwang don’t become statistics. So I ask you, what platform do you have? And how are you using it? Because that’s what truly matters. Ruto Must Go Arrest Lagat Sakaja is a clown✌️ #JusticeForAlbertOjwang Do Not Forget.
