This! Well said. Anti-opioid zealots say taking #opioids for #chronicpain causes “opioid induced hyperalgesia” (meaning, opioids cause more pain) BUT Then they say, taking an opioid causes a “numbing effect” (meaning pain is blunted/less susceptible or sensitive to stimuli)

@Katamac1967 I do not buy into the concept of hyperalgesia. I have been on high-dose opioids (same dose for 13 years) and have a decent qol. We agree it's not the opioid, the pain is not controlled.

I think the lie called opioid induced hyperalgesia is pain from not having pain managed w/ the correct #opioid dose. Most #chronicpain pt being Rx, say, two 5mg Hydrocodone a day will still have pain. It’s not the opioid causing pain. It’s the pain not being controlled.

@Katamac1967 Not all CPPs are alike. For instance oxycodone works best for me but dilaudid works best for another. Some are fine on a low dose while others require high doses.
