President Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced that Zimbabwe will construct its own State House, moving away from the colonial-era Government House that has served as the official presidential residence for decades.
The current State House in Harare was built during British colonial rule, a structure that many have long viewed as a reminder of a painful past. Now, the vision is to build a residence that truly reflects Zimbabwean identity, African pride, culture, sovereignty and the spirit of independence.

@bashi92178 @enkudheni What are departments for within the commission?
English

People are panicking that ZEC is "losing power" but let's be honest, ZEC was drowning in admin work. Running elections AND managing voter rolls AND drawing boundaries? That's three full-time jobs for one commission. No wonder things kept falling through the cracks.
Moving voter registration to the Registrar-General just makes sense. These guys already have your ID, your citizenship record, your address. Adding voter registration to that is literally just ticking a box on a database they already run. One system, less duplication, fewer errors.
The fear-mongering about "who controls the roll" is tired. ZEC still runs the actual election. The Registrar-General still answers to the same laws. Nothing's getting hidden, it's just getting organised by people who actually specialise in this stuff.
I've watched enough election cycles where the voters' roll was the main drama. Ghost voters, missing names, addresses that don't exist. Maybe, just maybe, putting it with the people who already verify your identity for everything else isn't the scandal people want it to be.
Efficiency isn't a conspiracy. It's just overdue.

@giwukumene @JumaMwakalobo @matinyarare Definitely. The advance team and the convoy costs, the day's meals and allowances in total will drill and equip 20 boreholes!
English

@JumaMwakalobo @matinyarare The issue of cost of the project can be less than the cost of the allowances and fuel used

It’s a travesty that a whole Minister of Finance flew from Harare to Matabeleland with bodyguards, to commission a borehole and a garden, in a country where every Zimbabwean has a borehole at their home. How does a Finance Minister in a country that aspires to be a middle-income economy and the breadbasket of Africa, celebrate the commissioning of a mere borehole and garden on a continent where Libya under Gaddafi (30 years ago) built the world’s biggest irrigation system known as the Great Man Made River, to make Libya the biggest dessert farm in the world?
How does Zimbabwe become an advanced middle-income economy when our Finance Minister spends his day commissioning boreholes instead of commissioning hundreds of kilometers of canals from Tokwe-Mukosi to turn the whole of South West Zimbabwe into fruit and sugarcane plantations?

@ZBCNewsonline "The nationwide consultations are being held at over 60 centres, giving Zimbabweans a platform to share their views." The whole nation of over 200 constituencies having 60 centres only for such a crucial exercise? Having 1 centre to consult for 4 constituencies? Aah, vakomaaana!

Citizens gathered as early as 7am at Bulawayo’s Large City Hall for public hearings on the proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill. The nationwide consultations are being held at over 60 centres, giving Zimbabweans a platform to share their views.
