This committee will be tasked with drafting the regulations for a truth-finding commission and court. Dr. Ebadi has accepted the chairmanship of this committee. Additionally, a number of the most distinguished international legal scholars will assist this committee in an advisory capacity. @aidanmrli @ChandarLab @iclr_conf Deeper DCD SSMs have the capacity to model non-Abelian groups and in the limit model solvable groups. To get even more expressivity than what is possible with DCD SSMs some possibilities are to use non-diagonal A or non-affine update (e.g., RNN).

@ChandarLab @iclr_conf I found this really interesting. If I’m understanding this right, the SSM diagonal state matrix cannot distinguish the order of non-commuting inputs naturally because scalar multiplication is commutative… so is the better direction to use deeper SSM or use RNN?

We give a complete characterization of what diagonal SSMs can and cannot compute on state-tracking tasks and the answer is deeply connected to group theory.

@aidanmrli @ChandarLab @iclr_conf Hey Aidan! It's not as simple as "scalar multiplication is commutative" because the update is h' = A(x)h + b(x), not just h' = A(x)h. The b(x) term allows non-commutative behavior but our result shows that this still doesn't allow such architectures to track non-Abelian groups.

Fantastically well said Elica. What an insult to Iranians to be negotiating a nuclear deal with a regime that exterminates its own people by the tens of thousands. How can we trust this regime does not turn on the rest of the world? Iranians have given their lives trying to warn us about this eventuality. Yet the world says “yeah go ahead, murder your own people. Here’s your reward: a brand new nuclear deal.”

Several thousand people are being held in large warehouse-like halls in Kahrizak — many of them young — on death row.
— So they’re putting everyone into these halls under the label of “prison”?
— Yes. And they are being executed in groups.
Afterwards, they are registered as “killed on previous days” before being transferred.
There is no trial. No due process. There is no real court.
A so-called forensic authority retroactively approves the cause of death for previous days.
The executions have not stopped, because there is no functioning court to stop them.
Our hearts and eyes are filled with blood, grief, and rage.
