Forget Makerfield for a second. The Tories used this exact same rhetoric in the 2024 election. It is the language of defeat. They have NOTHING to offer. Reform could crush Restore in a week by just shifting to the right, but they won’t. They’ve become the Tories 2.0 and are dying on that hill. The public doesn’t want it and now they have their alternative. Reform are running on net-zero immigration, but we’re already projected to have net-zero this year under Labour. All they have is, at present, a higher polling position. If Restore get a decent vote share in this election, like Reform did in the 2024 election, then Reform as a party are finished.

@Anarseldain Americans forget the fact that a large majority of immigrants in Europe come from other European nations. Of course the question of immigration has turned many people towards the Right, which is ultimately good.

Scotland is 93% White. Wales is 94% White. Northern Ireland is 97% White. England is 81% White. All of these numbers are far too low, and nobody is denying that the situation is bleak – especially in places like London. America is half brown. “Europe is lost” posts are slop.

@Lavader_ My personal biggest gripe with them is that they're destined to lose. They're only defensive, never offensive, and they eternally retreat on every possible subject. Any politician who not only didn't advance their ideals but even failed to halt the opposition's ideals is useless.

One of my bigger frustrations with how mainstream conservatives and other right-wingers interpret the world is that they filter everything through an Absolute Idealist lens, much like communists can only make sense of things through class and material conditions. When a person acts, the Conservatives then look straight at what that person believed (their politics, their religion, their stated ideology, basically any fundamental ideal they clung to) and treat that specific belief as the engine behind the action. Then they argue that if you strip away the belief, the deed would have never happened. I find this just as shallow as the Communist belief that class is the hidden source of every conflict. Plenty of people have genuinely died for a cause, so I'm not denying that beliefs move people. But there's a real question worth asking about where the impulse actually came from. Did it grow out of the belief itself, or was it already present in the person, waiting for some idea to give it shape and a respectable name? Treating the belief as the prime mover also conveniently overlooks everyone who wears an ideology as a costume, you know the people who reach for ideals only because doing so gets them closer to power or money. Beliefs aren't the whole story. And they have this childish delusion where if this certain Idea is gone, then the entire World will be sunshine and Rainbows.
