Seeing more people reading alone in a pub. Let’s normalise this please. So it’s not just me 😂 Reading rooms with booze; Ambient music, not too loud, the occasional social interaction (about books)… Maybe even an occasional thought provoking talk as interlude.

@Skepta "Degenerate" - they know very clearly what words they're using and what they mean. These need to be made less comfortable invoking what they're invoking.

Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas

Having 'Beloved' ranked as the second-greatest novel of all time is absurd. It's not even Toni Morrison's best novel, arguably not even her second-best. The list does include some excellent choices though, 'The Left Hand of Darkness' by Ursula K. Le Guin and 'Pedro Páramo' by Juan Rulfo, even if the latter is placed far too low. At the same time, the absence of 'Under the Volcano' by Malcolm Lowry is indefensible. Excluding Philip Roth completely is, perhaps, even more egregious.

"I consider myself a 'stream of consciousness' player, or what was later to be known as a 'free jazz' player… So I had to learn how to play with the strictures of bebop and all these things… because I'm really just a natural player." –S.R., to the Academy of Achievement, 2006

The library doesn't just hold knowledge, it holds the echoes of every mind that dared to explore, question, and imagine new realities. I'm actively looking for a literary agent to help my book earn its place on shelves like these.
