I’m personally sorry for that cramped experience! The reason our crews are so strict about those specific seats is due to the weight and balance requirements of the aircraft. On flights with lower passenger counts, our pilots have to be incredibly precise with distribution to ensure the plane's center of gravity is stable for a safe takeoff. It’s just a technical safety necessity that our ground teams and flight deck coordinate before every departure. We truly appreciate you bearing with us to help keep the flight balanced and safe. ❤️ - Tyler

How I’m on a flight with 62 open seats and you got me sitting in a middle seat in a a set of 6 straight rows completely full. Everybody just looking dumb and uncomfortable for no reason What are we doing. @SouthwestAir this is corporate greed.

@TomiLahren @SouthwestAir It’s an easy solution. MAKE people use the bins above their seat with no exceptions. Why aren’t they just doing that with all of the complaints going on.

Well so far the new @SouthwestAir seating policy has been an epic failure. Folks who aren’t sitting at the front of the plane still somehow board early and then take up bin space over spots they aren’t sitting in. By the time those people who have those seats are able to board their bins are full. Feels like this was an attempt by Southwest to make a few extra bucks but customers are not happy. In fact, this may be a universally decried rollout.
