“To stop the Israelis from thwarting a potential peace deal, we will have to take away the military support that we provide that allows them to go on the offensive against Iran, and make it clear more will be taken from them if they attack Lebanon.” No problem. But then I’m sure you would also support Israel treating the relationship the same way. From now on, Israel should be free to give China or Russia firsthand Mossad intelligence, early access to military technology, AI developments, and more. After all, Israel has to survive too. And everyone knows that without the U.S.-Israel alliance, there would be a line from the river to the sea of countries trying to buy Israeli weapons, intelligence, cyber capabilities, and military technology. I, for one, as a real America Firster, pray it never comes to that and that we continue enjoying the privileges that come from a mere $3.8 billion annual transaction with Israel. But since some of you decided to start talking about a breakup, at least be honest enough to discuss what both sides bring to the table. Two-way street.
Joe Kent@joekent16jan19

The announcement by President Trump about the potential peace deal is very good news. To make the deal effective we have to be realistic about Israel. We must recognize that a peace deal of any kind with the Iranian regime will be viewed by Israelis as an existential threat to their objectives, therefore they will seek to thwart the deal. To stop the Israelis from thwarting a potential peace deal, we will have to take away the military support that we provide that allows them to go on the offensive against Iran, and make it clear more will be taken from them if they attack Lebanon.

I spoke last night with President @realDonaldTrump about the memorandum of understanding to reopen the Straits of Hormuz and the upcoming negotiations toward a final agreement on Iran’s nuclear program. I expressed my deep appreciation to President Trump for his unwavering commitment to Israel’s security, including during Operation Roaring Lion and Epic Fury, when American and Israeli forces fought shoulder to shoulder against the Iranian threat. President Trump and I agreed that any final agreement with Iran must eliminate the nuclear danger. That means dismantling Iran’s nuclear enrichment sites and removing its enriched nuclear material from its territory. President Trump also reaffirmed Israel’s right to defend itself against threats on every front, including Lebanon. The partnership between us and our two countries has been proven on the battlefield and has never been stronger.  My policy, like President Trump’s, remains unchanged: Iran will not have nuclear weapons.

The disgusting embarrassing Iran surrender deal puts Trump below even Jimmy Carter. Remember when we were rightfully upset about Obama giving Iran $1.7 billion in cash? Trump's surrender deal gives Iran $6-30 billion in cash. And we get nothing. As long as the Ayatollahs are in power, they will have uranium and make nukes regardless of what Trump claims and the deal says, the same as with the BS Obama deal. I was willing to pay $5 gas for a while if we played to win and got them out. But TACO Trump was never serious or in this to fight to win. Never had any resolve and won't stick to a plan no matter the cost of always wavering. Every other week, he issued his typical empty ultimatums he never kept, endless ceasefires and kabuki dance negotiations. That's not how you conduct and win a war. It's how you lose a war. What was the point of going to war if we were never in it to win? It was all for nothing and actually even worse: humiliating defeat by a pissant country with basically no navy or air force and which we could have quickly taken out, had we had the guts to go in there with boots on the ground to take out the regime. Now Iran's Ayatollah regime will be stronger than ever. And Trump had forced Israel into defeat with Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah. I warned before the election that he would pull this crap and he has. If he thinks this will help the GOP in the mid-terms, he's delusional. America was willingly defeated by a pissant country just weeks from its 250th birthday. Unduly demoralizing, desperate and despicable.

Dear Mr. @realDonaldTrump The regime in Iran is lying to you and your negotiators (period, stop!). Do not believe a word they say. I know you want to get out of this mess. All Americans want this unnecessary war to end. Keep in mind, as you have been told many times, Iran is still the leading state sponsor of terrorism (all anyone needs to say is Hezbollah, Hamas & Houthis, never mind IRGC-QF). None of these organizations are going away with this deal. How about getting them to first publicly apologize for killing American Soldiers and U.S. Marines many times over (especially on this Memorial Day weekend). Yes, we are all sick of it. And yes, the people of Iran must step up, but we need to signal to them, we will not concede their freedoms to the insane regime in Teheran. They deserve better. If we don’t, we will cause an entire population to be enslaved. For this, we have to smartly use our Middle East partners to support them along with our covert and clandestine operators. Trust me, if you support, this is very doable. Anyway, I’m watching everything (like most of the world is) and admittedly I do not have all the information. But if we pay tribute to the regime to the tune of $25B, I’m concerned they’ll use it for nefarious purposes down the road. No nukes in Iran may be a noble idea (an end goal for your administration) but the regime has blatantly lied to our faces before, why do you now believe they will tell you the truth? Give it some thought. Get some out of the box solutions, and rethink your position. The art of the deal tells you to do that from time to time. Now may be that time. @POTUS @SecRubio

Please listen to this speech made by President Harry S. Truman in June of 1945. He puts Imperial Japan on notice that if they insist on continuing with their "resistance", the US will destroy Japan's entire industrial base, built up over a century. This wasn't just a bluff. Within two months of his warning, the U.S. dropped two atom bombs on major Japanese cities. Within ten days of the bombing, Japan surrendered unconditionally. President Trump made essentially the same threat to Iran but rather than following it up with overwhelming force, he has provided the Iranian regime with an extended ceasefire and now, news of the release to them of billions of dollars along with sanctions relief and a permanent end to the war. All without an immediate surrender of Iran's enriched uranium to the U.S. or any other concessions made by the regime. Not Harry Truman's way. Not the way to win a war or to preserve the peace. Not the way to protect millions of people from a regime hell bent on killing them.

President Trump's "unconditional surrender," THE goal at the start of this thing, is still on the table. The only question now is WHICH side is unconditionally surrendering?

And I am afraid that Charles is right on all counts.
Charles@MadisonCKS

Hearing the news of the treaty with Iran, I am very disappointed. I have always supported President Trump. I am angry. I feel naive. And most importantly, I am afraid. I am afraid for the Iranian people. Trump exhorted the Iranian people to go out in the streets to protest. For the first time in 47 years, they had a US President who said he would help them achieve their freedom. They had a chance to dream of a new future. 40,000 innocent Iranians were s*vagely m*rdered in the streets. There have been daily h*ngings. But nothing stopped their trust in Trump. Nothing stopped their resolve. But that all evaporates today. Gone is their hope. And it won’t be back to what it was before, it will be many times worse. They could almost taste freedom, but now the s*vagery and barbarism will increase. The Regime will make the people pay in ways the West will never know or understand. I am afraid for Israel. By this deal, Trump has completely embarrassed Netanyahu; who was the strongest PM Israel ever had. He worked tirelessly for a strong and secure Israel and he fought for Israel on the world stage. Netanyahu’s coalition will most assuredly collapse in coming months if not sooner. And it will be replaced with a dovish government that will go back to the Land for Peace insanity, and all that entails. And all this while the Regime has every intention to d*stroy Israel. The Regime will have the funds and wherewithal to rebuild their military power, and they will know that neither the US nor Israel will be able to stop them. I am afraid for America. Trump’s reputation will collapse overnight. This will sadly be his legacy Only isolationists like JD Vance will be happy. The bulk of Conservatives – those who felt he was fighting a just war will not show up for the mid-terms and both the House and the Senate will fall to the Democrats. And there will be only one item on their agenda – impeachment. Only difference this time is they may actually remove him from office. This country will make a drastic turn. We already see how the Democrats have become the party of anti-Semitism and Islamism. And the Woke Right will grow substantially. This will create an environment hostile to Jews because Jews and Israel will be blamed for the Iran War – something that they have been trying to do since the war started. And while this is going on, Iran will be working to destabilize the US, by covert as well as other methods, depending upon how quickly they reconstitute and advance their weapons program. I am afraid for my children. My grandparents fled the pogroms in Russia to come to these shores for a better future for their kids. That dream became a reality. But that reality cannot continue after today. Whether it is in years or in months, Trump signing this deal represents an absolute surrender - not by Iran, but by the United States. It is a complete capitulation on every one of Trump’s original goals, no amount of expert packaging will be able to change that. I can’t even begin to think what the repercussions will be, either on the world stage or within the country, but the future definitely doesn’t look like the bright future my grandparents envisioned when they came here. For the past few months I wanted to trust that Trump knew what he was doing so I vascillated between hope and disbelief. I am now just afraid. Afraid for our future. Am I too negative, perhaps. I considered delaying this until the ink was dry on the worthless treaty. But I’m posting this now. I will be more than happy to have egg on my face, but I give that a 5% chance.

@isaacrrr7 @MichaelPodwill Trump should not be obeyed! Trump isn’t that smart. Just has a big military and ego! Any agreement with Iran is totally foolish and meant to give Trump something to bluster and bullshit us with. He knows it will never be honored and wants his foolish off ramp.

Israel debería desobedecer a Trump y aniquilar por sí solo al régimen iraní, cueste lo que cueste. Es eso o esperar unos años y recibir una bomba atómica en Tel Aviv.

The sheer disrespect in how this is being handled is what makes it so infuriating. Treating the Prime Minister of Israel—a frontline ally facing an existential threat—like an obstacle to be managed rather than a partner is a massive betrayal. The details leaking out from those calls over the last 24 hours show exactly how ugly the dynamic has become behind the scenes: The Intentional Freeze-Out: Reports from The New York Times and Israeli defense sources confirm that Israel was cut almost entirely out of the loop during the critical stages of these negotiations. Trump held a massive multi-nation conference call on Saturday with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, and Jordan to review Iran's proposal—and Israel wasn't even invited to the call. The Courtesy Call Afterthought: Trump only called Netanyahu separately afterward to tell him what had already been discussed. While Trump publicly patted himself on the back on Truth Social, writing that the call "went very well," Israeli security officials leaked to Channel 12 that the emerging terms are actually a "very big problem" and a disaster for Israel. Dictating terms, Not Partnering: Trump’s inner circle, particularly his envoy Steve Witkoff, has been putting immense pressure on Trump to accept the deal at almost any price just to stop the conflict. Instead of coordinating a joint strategy with Jerusalem, the White House is essentially telling Israel: “We are moving forward with this 60-day freeze, we are releasing the billions, and you have to sit tight.” The Public Disconnect: This high-handed approach completely contradicts what Trump was saying just hours earlier when he told Axios that he wouldn't do a deal unless it was "good for Israel." Behind closed doors, they are treating Israel's security requirements as inconvenient details that are getting in the way of a flashy White House announcement. It is completely condescending. Trump is treating a sovereign, democratic ally that just endured a massive conflict as if they are a secondary player who should just be grateful for whatever crumbs Washington throws them. This is an incredibly sharp point for your conversation on Wednesday. It shows that this isn't just a bad deal on paper—it’s a fundamental shift in how the U.S. treats its closest allies when a quick political victory is on the line.

As an Israeli, tonight hurts. Hamas is rebuilding. Hezbollah never stopped firing. And a deal would ensure their main sponsor - the Islamic regime - can keep trying to destroy us. In October, we said that if Israel had to stand alone, it would stand alone. Since then, everyone has been deciding our fate except us.

Imagine starting a regime change war to end Iran’s nuclear & missile threat only to: - Keep IRGC in power - Give Iran control of Strait - Unfreeze $20 BILLION in assets - Allow Iran to keep ballistic missiles - Allow Iran to keep uranium It’s not a peace deal. It’s surrender.
