@verbatimvibes I’m debating the same thing have been a SOFI holder for awhile and keep getting disappointed by the dilution, does look like the stock will rip if we could get a couple of rate cuts.

@Reuters this might be a dumb question but doesnt a mass trial like this make it easier for the individuals to appeal and get stuff removed if they didnt commit the exact crimes and stuff? Like if each charge was tailored for every criminal wouldnt that be easier to stick?

100 mph from 6-foot-9 LHP Brody Bumila (2026) today. Struck out all six batters he faced in his first two innings with 19 of 20 pitches for strikes in his first start of the year on a beautiful 40 degree day in Massachusetts.

@elementgermani3 @jeannie4peace @GlobeEyeNews A street fight is a simple two-actor chain of causation. Political conflicts involve multiple independent agents making their own choices. Starting something doesn’t make you automatically responsible for every downstream action others choose to take. Agency still exists.

The Curious Tales
The Curious Tales@thecurioustales·
Before quantum mechanics, the universe operated like a clock. Wind it up, know the position and speed of every particle right now, and you could — in theory — calculate every event that would ever happen. Laplace proposed this in 1814, calling it his “demon” thought experiment. Reality as a deterministic machine, humming forward in perfect, knowable sequence. Quantum mechanics didn’t poke a hole in that idea. It detonated it. What Bohr and Heisenberg uncovered wasn’t that our instruments are too crude to measure particles precisely. That’s the popular misconception people walk away with. The uncertainty goes deeper. The particle genuinely does not have a precise position and momentum at the same time. The indefiniteness is baked into the fabric of what matter actually is at its base layer. An electron traveling from point A to point B doesn’t move the way a baseball does. It travels as a wave of probability, spreading across every possible destination simultaneously, and only crystallizes into a definite location the moment an interaction forces one outcome. The rest of the possibilities vanish. Where they go, nobody can tell you. —— The double-slit experiment — which Feynman called the only real mystery in quantum mechanics — makes this viscerally strange. Fire electrons through two slits without measuring which one they pass through, and they create an interference pattern on the back wall. The electron acts like a wave, passes through both slits simultaneously, and interferes with itself. Place a detector to record which slit it used, and the interference pattern disappears. The electron suddenly picks one slit and behaves like a particle. The electron changed its behavior because it was being watched. Physicists accounted for physical disturbance from the detector. That wasn’t the cause. The act of information being recorded about the electron’s path is what collapsed the wave of probability into a single outcome. At its most fundamental level, the universe appears to respond to whether or not a record of an event exists. ——— Einstein’s problem with all of this wasn’t stubbornness. People love painting him as an old man clinging to comfort. He understood the implications better than almost anyone, and that’s exactly what horrified him. If observation collapses possibility into reality, what was reality doing before anyone observed it? He literally asked Bohr: “Do you really believe the moon only exists when you look at it?” Bohr’s answer was essentially that the question itself may not be meaningful. Because “existence” the way Einstein meant it — solid, independent, always-there — might be a story the human mind tells itself because it cannot process the alternative. The alternative being that reality at its base is relational. Things don’t hold definite properties in isolation. They hold properties in relation to interactions, measurements, observers. The Copenhagen Interpretation remains the dominant working framework in physics nearly a century later, not because physicists are comfortable with it, but because nothing has beaten it experimentally. ——— The part that completely breaks intuition is what this implies about time. In quantum mechanics, certain experiments suggest a measurement made now can influence what a particle did in the past. John Wheeler’s delayed-choice experiment demonstrated this. You can decide, after a photon has already committed to a path, whether it behaved like a wave or a particle on that path, and your after-the-fact decision changes what actually happened. The past, at the quantum level, isn’t fully written until the future observes it. The arrow of time that feels so obvious and absolute — cause before effect, past fixed, future open — is something that emerges from quantum processes rather than something that governs them. ———
