Don't you wish Scotland had a Scotland-wide classified ads website that streamed all ads in one long thread, but you could filter by region? And it was free? modern.scot/classifieds/

Scotland’s constitutional question is back before Holyrood. John Swinney will ask MSPs to support a call for Westminster to grant referendum powers through a Section 30 order. The SNP and Greens now hold 73 pro-independence seats. Unionist parties say the new Parliament should focus on the NHS, living costs, ferries, roads and schools. The vote will not deliver a referendum by itself. But it may define the opening battle of Scotland’s new Parliament. Who decides when a mandate is enough? Scotland’s food price cap row is not as simple as either side suggests. Food insecurity is real, and so is child poverty. But so are thin retail margins, supplier pressures and the risk that poorly designed price controls move costs elsewhere. Modern Scot looks at the evidence behind the argument, including the SNP proposal, Tesco’s figures, food poverty data, retailer warnings and the question of whether food price caps would actually work. modern.scot/scotlands-food… #ModernScot #Scotland #FoodPrices #CostOfLiving #ScottishPolitics #Economy

Scotland is not simply in a housing crisis, it is in a permanence crisis. Modern Scot has examined public data on land ownership, second homes, empty homes, short term lets, homelessness, ageing, school rolls, rural access, crime, care, transport and community ownership. The pattern is clear. In too many places, land, homes, work, services and local power no longer line up. This is not about blaming one group. It is about asking whether ordinary people can still remain in the places that made them. modern.scot/scotland-as-th… #Scotland #Housing #LandReform #RuralScotland #Infrastructure #CommunityOwnership

Scotland’s national memory is not held in one place. Five museum collections have now been recognised as nationally significant, from Fife’s linoleum heritage and St Andrews’ photographic archive to Dundee’s art school collection, Loch Tay’s Iron Age material culture and Stirling’s university art collection. Together, they show how Scotland’s history is preserved far beyond the national museums, in local trusts, universities and specialist institutions across the country. West Lothian holds two of Scotland’s great historic houses within easy reach of one another. A summer study day from the Architectural Heritage Society of Scotland’s Strathclyde Group will visit the House of the Binns near Linlithgow and Hopetoun House near South Queensferry on 6 June. One tells a story of family continuity and domestic survival across four centuries. The other stands among Scotland’s grandest classical country houses. modern.scot/west-lothian-s… #ModernScot #Scotland #WestLothian #ScottishHeritage #Architecture #HistoricHouses

Scotland’s zero hours debate is not simple. Some workers value flexibility. Others need predictable hours, stable income and proper notice when shifts change or disappear. New employment rights due from 2027 will test that balance across retail, hospitality, care, tourism and seasonal work. Modern Scot looks at what the reforms mean for Scotland, why businesses are concerned, and why worker security remains at the centre of the argument. modern.scot/zero-hours-ref… #ModernScot #Scotland #EmploymentRights #ZeroHours #Economy #FairWork #Retail

@mashscot @SeamusLoganMP @theSNP Well if Scotland is a drain on westmonster why won't they give us independence. Oh thats right. Scotlands raises £215 billion in tax. We get approximately £60 billion back. All revenues from oil gas and renewable energy all go to westmonster.

Scottish taxpayers are paying for #HS2 but no one in this Labour Government is clear about whether this white and rather expensive elephant will ever make it across the border! It's the same old story for Scotland, Westminster just expects us to pay up without any benefit @theSNP
