Update 10:15 a.m.: The Monroe Police Department and the Washington Department of Corrections continue efforts to locate escapee Samuel Kimble. At this time, we do not believe he is in the Monroe area.

We are investigating an escape from Monroe Correctional Complex involving Samuel E. Kimble, 25, Black male, 5’9”, 158 lbs. He was last seen wearing a brown coat and gray sweats. Media contact is @WACorrections. News release and photo pending.

Update: Officers are conducting a death investigation in the 17400 block of W. Main Street. A suspect is in custody, and no other suspects are believed to be outstanding. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available.

Alert: Increased law enforcement presence in the areas of Fremont Street, Ferry Avenue, and Al Borlin Park due to an ongoing police investigation. More information will be shared as it becomes available.

Missing Person Alert – Monroe PD is asking for help locating Benjamin Stearns (71), a Monroe resident. Last seen driving a white 2020 Toyota RAV4. His most recent location was identified in the Sumner area. South Sound agencies are assisting, and a Silver Alert is being pursued.

Update (8:45 a.m.) - Chain Lake Road has reopened and is now open to traffic.

A house fire has closed Chain Lake Rd near Rainier View Rd. Northbound traffic is blocked at Rainier View Rd and southbound traffic at 137th St SE. If your morning commute uses Chain Lake Rd in that area, please plan alternate routes and expect delays.
