@JohnLeePettim13 I don't even pay $400 per month for my gas furnace in the dead of winter in Edmonton. Based on this analysis moving to a heat pump makes no sense at all.

Ok so I did some digging on heat pumps and what the costs would be to install, and run in northern Canada where winters see many -20 days. Here's the breakdown: 1600 sq ft. house with a full basement. First off you would need a dual fuel system, i.e. forced gas furnace plus heat pump. Costs for installation and pump: Usually needs a 4–5 ton variable-capacity cold-climate unit. Lower end (~$14k–$18k): Good existing ducts, no major electrical panel upgrade, straightforward install. Higher end ($20k–$25k+): Duct modifications needed, electrical service upgrade (common in older homes), or more complex basement/main-floor zoning. Typical range: $14,000 – $25,000 CAD (all-in, including labour, permits, and minor duct/electrical work). Cost to run: Effective all-in rate (with delivery, transmission, etc.): Usually 14–17 ¢/kWh during high winter usage. Running: $350–$650/month in peak winter months on electricity. Hybrid i.e. gas furnace plus heat pump keeps annual costs lowest. Payback vs. keeping/replacing just a gas furnace is usually 10–15+ years unless gas prices rise sharply or you get strong incentives. So lets look at this realistically: Cost for install 20K+ $400-650 a month in winter to run it + gas costs. Payback 10-15 years. These are real world costs/numbers not some bullshit propaganda the government or online idiots are spewing. Is it worth it in cold climate Canada or better to just keep and run your natural gas furnace ? You be the judge.

Canada is down 5-4 to NORWAY with 9 minutes left. And I need to say this. This is a CANADA problem. And it has three names. Darnell Nurse. Evan Bouchard. Cam Talbot. Let's start with the defense. Nurse and Bouchard together on the ice is a DISASTER. It doesn't matter who you pair them with. Every time they're out there, Canada is defending with two pylons who have zero awareness of what's happening behind them. Bouchard in the offensive zone? Fine. The guy can move the puck. He can quarterback a power play. Nobody is arguing that. But the SECOND that puck gets cleared out of the zone? He has NO IDEA what he's doing. None. He's lost. He's spinning. He's watching the play happen around him like a spectator. And Nurse? Same story. Different chapter. Edmonton has been living with this defensive liability for YEARS. Every Oilers fan watching this game right now is having flashbacks. This is the same movie they've seen 82 games a season. Nurse getting walked. Bouchard getting caught flat footed. The whole world is watching it now. Now Talbot. Three goals from distance that are absolute MUFFINS. Shots that should NEVER be going in at this level. These are saves that a Liiga goalie makes in his sleep. A DEL goalie stops those blindfolded. But Talbot is letting them through like he's playing beer league on a Sunday morning. Meanwhile Norway is playing the 10X style. Carrying deep. Attacking inside the dots. Using the space behind the net. Back to front passes. D jumping into the play. THAT is how you play hockey. Canada has Crosby. They have Celebrini. They have the talent to win this game. But talent means NOTHING when your back end is a revolving door and your goalie can't stop a beach ball from 40 feet. Nine minutes. Figure it out. Let's go Canada. 🇨🇦 #IIHFWorlds #TeamCanada

Paris airport, AC toronto bound flights have non-citizens brought on the plane before Business class. They are led on by airport staff without being cleared by check-in. They all are holding papers. Some have one elderly person w/wheelchair with up to five able bodied people with them. All these people in front of me were not cleared by the desk. I’ve now witnessed this twice.

@TheRealKeean I had 2 Air Canada flights this week. On both there was a large group of Indians who boarded before zone 1. I asked the ticket agent why. She said they all indicate special assistance when checking in. None of them seemed to have special needs and yet all got priority boarding.

PM Mark Carney says Canada needs millions of households to switch to electric heat pumps, arguing it will lower energy costs and strengthen the country's "net zero" transition. He added: "When we master energy, we master our destiny."

Was the goal post just moved⁉️ Mark Carney: "Discussion on a potential pipeline to transport at least 1M barrels of low emissions Albertan crude to Asian market. The pipeline will only advance with following prerequisites being met: 1. Pathways carbon capture. 2. It requires British Columbians to share substantial financial and economic benefits. 3. Fully respecting duty to consult under Section 35; and that INCLUDES WHETHER TO DESIGNATE A PROJECT BEING IN THE NATIONAL INTEREST, that includes conditions placed on the project and includes ensuring indigenous economic benefits, partnerships, and opportunities for co-ownership." What?! We have to now consult with First Nations IF the pipeline project is in national interest?? WTF

@Reil76 Of course Canada is stronger with Alberta in it. But is Alberta stronger remaing in Canada? The whole reason there is a separation movement is because Canads keeps taking from Alberta and gives nothing back.

To all the Albertans who still believe in Canada, thank you. We know the loudest voices online don’t represent everyone in your province. Millions of Albertans are proud Canadians who want to build this country, not break it apart. Canada is stronger with Alberta in it. Your people, your culture, your energy, your innovation, your hard work all matter to this country. The separatists don’t speak for all of you, and a lot of Canadians across the country recognize that. From coast to coast, we’re still one country! 🇨🇦

This is one of the rarest and most unforgettable experiences of my life. At 5:30 a.m., while I was alone on a beach in Costa Rica, I came across a beached dolphin. It was surrounded by about six buzzards, waiting to attack its eyes, while the dolphin kept crying out in pain and desperation, as if calling for help. For anyone who wants to call me weak, I’d really like to see them try moving a 275-pound slippery animal that’s thrashing in panic just to survive. It was a chaotic and unbelievable moment, and one that changed me forever. What was strange was that the dolphin seemed to be “communicating” with me throughout the entire time. I don’t know how to explain it, but I could clearly sense its gratitude — as if it understood I was there and that I had saved it from the buzzards. A raw and intense memory I will never forget. 🐬🙏 📹danielbarousse

Straw poll time. Has the Alberta/Ottawa agreement to maybe, possibly, hopefully approve a pipeline in a year and a half made you less inclined to vote for independence in a referendum? Yes or no.
