Thank you @GovernorShapiro for standing for Pennsylvanians against unsafe AI companies. A @CharacterAI bot told PA investigators it was a licensed psychiatrist: fake license number and all. The same company coached kids to suicide. The harm isn't a hallucination; it's real.

BREAKING: @character_ai is illegally presenting a chatbot as a licensed medical professional in Pennsylvania — and we’re suing to stop them.  Earlier this year, I announced a new state task force to investigate chatbots that pose as licensed professionals. Our investigators found an AI character on @character_ai that claimed to be a psychiatrist — falsely stating it was licensed in PA and even providing a fake license number.   We will not let AI companies mislead vulnerable Pennsylvanians into believing they’re getting advice from a licensed medical professional. We’re taking @character_ai to court to stop them.

BREAKING: The GUARD Act heads to the Senate floor after a 22–0 Judiciary Committee vote. The bill would ban AI companions for minors, require real age verification, mandate chatbot disclosures, and create penalties for exposing kids to sexual, self-harm, or violent content.

Today marks the first time a social media company like Meta has been held accountable for the addictive, manipulative features that have had a grip on our generation, with a jury awarding $3 million in damages. This is just the beginning. We stand with K.G.M., her family, and every youth safety advocate like @ptogetheraction @heatinitiative and @DesignItForUs and countless others who made this moment possible. This sets a major precedent for young people having real autonomy over how we interact with social media.
