@nssfug I have a smart life account with Nssf, I requested to withdraw funds from that account around April. The number I used was registered in company name so they advised me to provide a number which is in my name &I provided. Actually updated my details.

Hon. @BettyAmongiMP explained that the event was organised as part of ongoing efforts over the last five years to empower communities by creating opportunities for people to earn sustainable incomes instead of depending on financial support from others. She noted that when NUWEBIZ and AROVA introduced the idea of skilling women, they identified the centre as a suitable place for community transformation. She added that support was provided to ensure women and young people received practical training that could help them become self-reliant. Hon. Betty highlighted that many women and girls had already been trained in tailoring and had received sewing machines to support their work. She further explained that the programme was not limited to tailoring, but also included training in salon services, bakery, and restaurant management to help people without formal education acquire income-generating skills. She expressed appreciation to the Fund for supporting the initiative, particularly after concerns were raised about the challenges of using outdated sewing machines. According to her, NSSF responded positively by providing new machines to improve productivity and strengthen the programme. Hon. Betty also stated that government institutions and partners had been tasked with helping communities transition from being job seekers to becoming job creators. She commended everyone involved in implementing the programme and said the initiative was already making progress in improving livelihoods and empowering communities economically.

@PatrickAyota, Managing Director, NSSF commends the progress being made in Lira under the Common User Facility initiative, noting that the community is on the right path in empowering people through skills development and economic opportunities. He explains that NSSF selected a few pilot communities for the program and plans to return after one year to assess the impact created in terms of jobs and savings. He challenges the people of Lira to perform well compared to other participating districts, expressing hope that strong results could attract further support and upgraded equipment for the facility. Patrick also reassures the community that money saved with National Social Security Fund remains the saver’s money and continues to earn interest over time.

The initiative is aimed at empowering youth and women with practical income-generating skills, promoting entrepreneurship, and strengthening a culture of saving to improve household incomes and livelihoods across local communities.

Teddy Katasi, Account Manager, Enterprise and Growth, NSSF emphasizes the importance of setting clear financial goals before saving, such as paying school fees, buying land, building a home, or growing a business, and encourages today's attendees to save consistently in safe and reliable places.
