"Dynamic, optimistic, humane and romantic this is old-fashioned fiction at its most engaging. I thoroughly enjoyed it." - Amanda Craig

The Swiss Cottage pub has closed after almost 200 years. It gave its name to the local area and Tube station (one of six pubs to do that)

My two favourite books last year were both by Andrew Sanger: The J-word and The Unknown Mrs Rosen. Heart-breaking and compassionate. Get them @AmazonUK

It's an excellent and frightening read, and as relevant as they come. Would love to see this as a TV series or a movie.

@britishlibrary Ruth Prawer was a German Jew, who witnessed #Kristallnacht. Her father Marcus moved to Germany from Poland. Her mother Eleanora's father was cantor of Cologne's main synagogue. In 1939 the family escaped to London and lived in #Hendon. Ruth attended @Hendon_School and @QMUL.

@lorrainemking Hahaha - she had character references in court from Jeremy Corbyn, John McDonnell and Diane Abbott. All you need to know.

No big deal for me - wouldn't read another #SallyRooney anyway - but she needs to grow up, get some real facts about #Israel and stop bandying around hyperbole like "apartheid". Her #BDS statement is an embarrassing display of prejudice and ignorance.
