I will never get used to this kind of obscenity being used in an official statement by the White House Communication Director. The White House no longer aspires to lead from a higher moral vantage point, it seeks to fight in the mud with the pigs.

She became more insistent, more frantic. ""I'm going,"" she finally said. ""I'm definitely going. There is definitely going to be a tsunami."" Her father Colin heard the urgency in her voice. He decided to trust his daughter. By coincidence, a Japanese man nearby overheard Tilly use the word ""tsunami."" He'd just heard news of an earthquake in Sumatra. ""I think your daughter's right,"" he said. Colin alerted hotel staff. They began evacuating immediately. Tilly's mother Penny was one of the last to leave. She had to sprint as the water began rushing in behind her. ""I ran,"" she recalled, ""and then I thought I was going to die."" They made it to the second floor with seconds to spare. Then the wave hit. Thirty feet tall. Everything on the beach—beds, palm trees, debris—was swept into the pool and beyond. ""Even if you hadn't drowned,"" Penny later said, ""you would have been hit by something."" The 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami killed over 230,000 people across 14 countries. Entire beaches in Phuket were wiped out. But at Mai Khao Beach, not a single person died. Because a ten-year-old girl paid attention in geography class. Tilly was hailed as the ""Angel of the Beach."" She received awards, spoke at the United Nations, met Bill Clinton. Her story is now taught in schools worldwide. Her father Colin still thinks about what could have happened. ""If she hadn't told us, we would have just kept on walking,"" he said. ""I'm convinced we would have died."" Tilly still credits her teacher. ""If it wasn't for Mr. Kearney,"" she told the UN, ""I'd probably be dead and so would my family."" Two weeks. One lesson. One hundred lives. That's the power of education.

This New York Times piece on the January 6th slush fund is worth your time. Here’s what is happening, as simply as I can put it. Back in January, Trump sued the IRS, an agency he controls, demanding $10 billion over the leak of his tax returns a number of years ago. IRS lawyers did their jobs. They wrote a memo laying out the defenses that could beat the suit, including the fact that Trump filed too late. His own lawyer was in court when the leaker pleaded guilty in October 2023, more than two years before Trump sued. The Justice Department never showed up to court. Never argued back. Never used the defenses sitting on their desk. The judge got suspicious and ordered both sides to explain whether they were actually opposing each other or just colluding. The day before that brief was due, Trump dropped the suit. Same day, his Justice Department announced a $1.776 billion taxpayer-funded “anti-weaponization fund.”  Trump gets a formal apology. The IRS agrees to drop any audits of him and his family, even though a 2024 Times report found a loss in an ongoing audit could cost him over $100 million. The acting Attorney General, Trump’s former criminal defense attorney, picks the five commissioners who decide who gets paid. Trump can fire any of them. This morning Jeff Bezos said raising his taxes "won't help" working Americans. Let's look at the math: Bezos paid Trump $40 million. Then Trump cut Amazon’s taxes by $8 billion... And that same bill kicked millions of Americans off health care.

This was a news cast on almost every television in the Country on July 15,1990 because it was informing everyone that Trump had defaulted on $20 million dollars on some of the bonds used to fund his Casinos! It was also his 44th birthday and he was definitely not celebrating.

In the middle of the lunch, Trump called RFK Jr and Dr. Oz and told them he wanted the regulation lifted. Trump’s FDA Commissioner then resigned in protest. Things like this are happening every day. RFK Jr is a total fraud.

You can criticize the Israeli government all day long. That is democracy. But calling for an “internment camp for American Zionists” and smearing Jews as “pedophiles” is not criticism. It is the oldest, ugliest antisemitism dressed up as politics. Every leader, every party, every decent person should denounce this for what it is.

Good morning. The President of the United States is currently looting the treasury. He’s just taking your money for his own purposes. Billions of it. And Republicans won’t do anything because their loyalty isn’t to you, it’s to him.

The settlement disclaimer is worth reading in its own words: once the money is deposited, the government has "no liability whatsoever for the protection or safeguarding of those funds, regardless of bank failure, fraudulent transfers, or any other fraud or misuse." No liability. No transparency. No judicial review. Claims require only a self-assertion of victimhood. Challengeable only by Trump, Trump, and Trump. Judge Williams ruled she has no jurisdiction. The 93 members who filed in opposition lost. The filing designed to prevent examination worked. The $1.776 billion moves through a mechanism with no outside accountability built in by design. Congress can block this. It has to choose to be Congress.

So if you or I cheat on our taxes, we could spend time behind bars. But if Trump... or his kids... or his businesses cheat on their taxes, the law doesn't apply. This is insane & beyond corrupt. DOJ works for the American people, NOT Donald Trump.

A corrupt sociopath sits in the White House because the Republican Party wanted power more than democracy. Trump voters made the deal. Republican leaders signed off on it. Now the country is paying for it.

Greenland has been on the map since roughly the year 982, when a Norwegian called Erik the Red sailed there and named it. The Vikings. Not Donald Trump. Vikings with axes and no central heating. And yet here stands Jeff Landry, Governor of Louisiana, a man elected by actual human beings to run an actual American state, explaining to a Danish television crew that Greenland did not exist until 2025. This is the intellectual foundation of the most aggressive territorial land grab attempted by a Western democracy since the Second World War. Not strategic doctrine. Not legal argument. Not geopolitical necessity. A governor who apparently believes the world’s largest island was invented by a property developer from Queens. They want to take Greenland. They cannot find Greenland.
