Don't spend money on a therapist, go for a slow walk in the woods. It's best if you take a Grandchild with you. Oh the wonders.

📢 New report on Ontario’s teacher workforce. Key finding: 40,000+ certified teachers are not working in publicly funded schools. This isn’t just a recruitment issue — it’s about retention, working conditions, and precarious employment. otffeo.on.ca/en/wp-content/… #OntEd #onpoli

Today I’m at the #ETFO rep council discussing the conditions in public schools with educators. With 6.35 billion in #onted funding CUTS since 2018, classrooms are stretched. A real investment is urgent to make a #BigDifference for students. #SmallerClasses

Amid the firing and suspension of 10 teachers at Bowmore school in #Toronto, ETFO presidents and local leaders from across Ontario send a united message of support and solidarity for these beloved teachers, and for the #onted schools all students deserve! This is all our fight ✊✊ #canlab

Bill 60 is more dangerous than people realize. It lets the province move our water systems into corporate structures that can be outsourced, contracted out, and eventually privatized — all without public consent. Ontario’s water must stay PUBLIC. #onpoli #Bill60 #KeepWaterPublic

Ontario cut Grade 7/8 design and tech programs in the late 90s. Now we’re shocked there’s a shortage of tradespeople and tech teachers. Who could have seen that coming? 🙃 #onted #onpoli @otffeo

We're excited to announce ETFO President David Mastin as a Speaker at the Niagara Convention! David began his teaching career in 1995 with the Durham Board of Education (now Durham District School Board) after graduating from the University of Toronto. At the ETFO Durham Teacher Local, he served as local Treasurer, Secretary, Chief Negotiator, Political Action Chair, Second Vice-President and First Vice-President before being elected local President in 2015. David was first elected to ETFO’s Provincial Executive in 2013, he was elected Vice-President in 2019, First Vice-President in 2021 and President in 2025. With public education, equity, and workers’ rights under threat, David knows our greatest strength lies in unity, action, solidarity, and hope.

While the Ford government touts “record” school spending, schools like Elizabeth Ziegler in Waterloo are forced to close after concrete falls from the façade. Students are displaced until 2027. This isn’t record investment. It’s record neglect. #ETFO #onpoli #wrdsb

The Ford government is touting nearly $1B for new schools opening this fall, but the repair backlog for existing ones has swelled to $16B. “This isn’t record spending, it’s record neglect,” says @ETFOeducators @ETFOpresident.
