GONE 🫣 Neeld with the two-run homer down the line. River Hawks double it 4-0. #UnitedInBlue

More traffic, more runs 👏 Needles drives in one and Neeld scores on the throw. Lowell leads 5-0 in the third. #UnitedInBlue

@ConnorFlicking3 Good morning Connor. I’m Ed Neeld, the scout, with Holy Family D2 in Northeast Philadelphia. I spoke with you after your last game on Sunday. I just wanted to follow up with you to get your contact info. Phone number and email address. Have a great day and talk soon.

@joy_roeder @_coachrachel However, most scholarships are 1 year renewable scholarships. I haven’t heard of colleges offering a 4 year scholarship unless maybe you’re an absolute elite player

It’s important to draw if your coach suggests you enter the portal with how things stand right now legally if you have a 4 year scholarship you don’t have to enter the portal. You can stay at that school not be on the team and the school will have to honor the scholarship. I have some players in this situation and after reviewing their agreements and speaking to the compliance office they were informed the minute they enter the portal they give up all scholarship money but if they don’t enter the portal they can still attend as a student only and not lose scholarship.

If you enter the transfer portal… 99% of the time, your college coach is not letting you back on to your original college team.. This is why nearly 50% of softball athletes never play college softball again. Once you’re in the portal, your coach now has to fill your spot… It’s like asking your husband/wife for a divorce & then asking them to take you back when you realize no one else wants you… I thought this was common knowledge—but based on all the questions I’ve been getting, I just wanted to make it clear!!

To all the kids who RUSHED to get into the transfer portal first… congrats — your name is now buried at the bottom of hundreds of entries. Most college coaches I’ve talked to are overwhelmed. They’re asking ME who’s in the portal and who they should look at. Getting in is easy. Getting OUT with a new home? That takes a real recruiting plan.
