It’s been 5 years but the lathe machine still scares me 😂😂😂🤞, currently & specifically, kufaculty yedu Mechanical Engineering is the only department with compulsory individual design & MAKE projects requirements to deliver a working prototype if I’m not mistaken. One last push and I’m done. Have been working and praying for this for a longtime.🙏🏻

The people of the UK should stop treating Prince Andrew like a leper. He is Queen Elisabeth II's son, surely in her honour we can all take a deep breath and forgive Andrew. You have punished the Queen's son enough. Let him be.

🔸DID YOU KNOW? Prosper Padera is a 19 year old defensive midfielder for the Warriors. Born in Bocha, Manicaland, Padera currently plays for Seinäjoen Jalkapallokerho (commonly known as SJK), a club that plays in the highest tier of the football league in Finland. Padera lost his mother at a young age, leaving his unemployed father to raise him as a single dad in their home in Chikwariro Village in Marange district. His father recognized his son’s footballing talent and took him to Mutare and introduced him Mutare-based academy, MAJESA. Padera’s father sadly passed away two weeks after their trip to Mutare in 2021. He was adopted by MAJESA co-directors, Charles and Nomsa Chave. Padera played for MAJESA in the prestigious Marvelous Nakamba Foundation Under-17 invitational tournament in Bulawayo in June 2022. Padera was crowned “Player of the Tournament” owing to his outstanding midfield performance. He was immediately scouted by Prime Time Academy which was established in Harare by former Southampton striker, Dexter Blackstock. Prime Time Academy granted Padera a full scholarship to enrol at Brooke House College Football Academy in the United Kingdom. Padera captained England Universities during the 2023 and 2024 editions of the International Colleges World Cup in Morocco. In December 2024, Padera secured a four-year-deal with Finnish top-flight side, Seinäjoen Jalkapallokerho (SJK). In June 2025, he represented Zimbabwe in the COSAFA Cup, earning the Man of the Match award in a 0–0 draw against Mauritius. Padera was also called up to the Zimbabwe senior national team for World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda in August 2025. From the dusty, diamond-rich village of Marange, to playing at Nakamba’s junior tournament, to playing beside him in the men’s senior national team, Padera embodies the true Warrior spirit of Zimbabwe. Prosper Padera. Remember his name. #GoWarriorsGo #TeamZimbabwe🇿🇼

A few weeks ago, I shared a story about how a South African businesswoman to whom I gave way in Johannesburg ended up becoming a friend who offered to pay for an entire degree programme for another South African who follows me on social media to study Engineering after I shared his story with her. You might also remember that months ago (around February), I shared a story of a young Zimbabwean man who desperately wanted to study medicine but did not have the resources, not even a penny he said. He wrote to me again the week I shared the South African story, this time telling me that his dream was partly fulfilled, he had been offered a place to study medicine at the University of Zimbabwe, but still had no money. I remembered that a few people had previously offered to pay his school fees when I posted his story in February, chipping in as and when they could. Before that, I had tried to set up a Zimbabwean diaspora institute that would professionally mobilise opportunities like this for poor Zimbabweans back home. It was fought viciously, with some holding ten-hour Twitter spaces to demonise me and the idea because they thought it was meant to replace their dysfunctional leaders and that I was setting it up for a presidential campaign. Sad stuff. The idea was to pool all good opportunities that would help our people back home and assist people who needed help. Hatred, jealousy, envy and bad politics got in the way. So, whenever I am approached for help, I have to assist as an individual and not as a group, which would have been better. They even made threats against doctors who had offered to run free clinics for the poor and elderly in Zimbabwe under this programme. This young man approached me hoping to get a scholarship through this programme I had talked about. After sending me his letter of acceptance, I shared it with a few friends in a WhatsApp group. A Zimbabwean woman (accountant) in one of the professional WhatsApp groups I am in called me and said she had shared the South African story with one of her clients. The client who is a business woman was inspired by the South African story and wanted to do the same. I told the accountant that I had a young man who was desperate to study medicine, all he needed were his tuition and accommodation fees. She came back to me, asked for the UZ admission letter for the young man, a few days later, she sent me a bank proof of payment slip. Her client, who wishes to remain anonymous, paid the full tuition and accommodation fees for this young man for the entire six years of his medicine degree programme at the University of Zimbabwe. Below is the WhatsApp message I received from the boy’s mother after the fees were paid. This is why I believe in using my social media platforms for good. It disappointed me when some toxic Zimbabweans fought the idea of a diaspora institute through which we could have sent hundreds of aspiring doctors and engineers to universities using networks we already have, because I believe in accountability — not a briefcase scenario where one man is the centre of everything. An institution brings with it accountability. I have helped so many people in the past, but what happens if I wake up dead tomorrow? That is why we should have institutions that outlive us instead of briefcase solutions. One of the doctors who had offered his services for free for the diaspora institute project has offered to mentor this young man. I am so happy for the young man and his mother. We should use our platforms to build, not as toxic gas stations! The problem in Zimbabwe is not a lack of kind-hearted people with resources, it is the lack of trusted, credible, institutional vehicles that can professionally pool those resources, vet needs, and deliver help at scale, transparently. One person can pay for a degree, but an institution can pay for thousands. One doctor can run a free clinic, but an institution can build a network of clinics. When people destroy collective ideas because they are threatened or envious or hate the people with the ideas, they weaken everyone’s future. The real tragedy is that I am forced to do all this personally, calling people, vouching for students, chasing help, when this should be normalised and systematised institutionally. One good deed can change a life, but strong institutions can change a nation. It warms my heart beyond words to know that somewhere in Zimbabwe, a mother who once wept over her son’s shattered dream of being a doctor because they had no money can now sleep with hope in her heart, and that through my little corner of the internet, I get to witness miracles like this unfold. Let us all pray for this young man to succeed and be another testimony to what we can do when we are not needlessly fighting each other. I have never met this young man; we only communicated via Twitter inbox and WhatsApp. I have never met the accountant, we are just in the same WhatsApp group, and I do not know who her client is, but the social media story I shared about South Africa inspired them to do the same. That is the power of social media, and that is how we should be using it for the good of our society.
