The longer I work in corporate, the more I realize that most urgent deadlines are just poor planning from someone who won’t admit it.

I don't know how Microsoft isn't embarrassed by how bad the search functionality is in Outlook. I could be looking for something from YESTERDAY and it'll be like "nope never heard of that email try again"

Manager: Hey, are you able to do a little extra work? Employee: No, thanks. Manager: Why not? Employee: I’m trying to stay at that B+ worker level—nothing more, nothing less. Manager: What do you mean by B+ worker level? Employee: I do a good job so you don’t fire me, but I also don’t go above and beyond for you to expect me to do extra work without extra pay. Manager: But you should want to go above and beyond. That way, you can maybe get promoted one day. Employee: If I wanted to get promoted, I would have to do less work. Manager: What? Employee: Only C and D workers who do average work get promoted here. Manager: That’s not true. Employee: Meanwhile, A+ overachievers get stuck with more work and no extra pay. Manager: Well, it doesn’t hurt to help. Employee: Actually, overworking causes stress, which can lead to health issues. So technically, it would hurt me. But I will step up if you want to pay me more and give me a promotion. Manager: You’re too valuable in the position you’re currently in, so I can’t give you a promotion or a raise right now. Employee: Yeah, that’s what I thought. Manager: So what, because of that, you’re just going to do the bare minimum? Employee: No, it sounds bad when you say it like that. I like to think of it as me giving you 100% every week—10% Monday, 20% Tuesday, 30% Wednesday and Thursday, and 10% Friday.

I asked my work if I could balik kampung and work remotely. They said cannot. So instead of working remotely for 2 days I will be on leave and work just has to wait 🫰🏻
