@GergelyOrosz I hate writing but sometimes have ideas I want to share. Using an AI to do the writing for me would be really helpful and could let me share my ideas more frequently. But people will recognize the LLM lingo and reject it as slop even though the ideas are my own.

AI - in theory - should make writing easier, thus expressing ideas should be a lot easier. And yet, I don't see all that much more things that are worthwhile to read. Sure, there's a lot more junk. But I don't see more interesting eng blogs, personal tech-related blogs etc. What is going on? (Is this a discoverability issue? Or are people / teams not writing/sharing all that much more, indeed?)

@GergelyOrosz @HououinTyouma To some a hiring manager is a recruiter working 100% with interviewing people and recruitment. For others a hiring manager is a normal manager that need an additional person for the team and who is doing interviews until that position is filled. After that no more interviews.

@HououinTyouma To be fair, I cannot generalize for the whole population. I will say for me it was always a chore, and one I tried to minimize. The folks I know seem all like this. I cannot assume beyond this group - esp if you have the opposite experience.

The end of full-remote interview loops as soon as AI fakers get their hands on these (who already use more basic AI filters) Get ready to be flown in for that final interview unless you have rock solid references… like back pre-2020

Like other more famous people have said, it's wrappers all the way down ppl saying Vercel is "just" a wrapper is like saying all the AI apps are just wrappers they are missing the point that there is value in the UX layer and speed and convenience it's like saying the 2000s-2010s saas are all database CRUD wrappers. salesforce is a DB and 3rd party APIs wrapper. still billions dollars of market cap..

One realization from the AWS outage: Those saying Vercel is "just" an AWS wrapper that charges more than AWS were... wrong. Vercel failed over and recovered ~10 hours before the AWS outage was over. Them (and other IaaS / PaaS platforms) invest into multi-region resillience...

Linear has a 30-minute weekly meeting called "Quality Wednesdays." I sat through one and WOW Devs show a quality or perf-related fix they did last week. It can be big, or small. We went through 17 issues, from massive backend performance wins, to this tiny one. Can you see it?

As a dev, I find it's a lot less energy to STAY in "the zone" Vs context switch while I'm waiting on something, then get back to work When using an AI tool, I cannot "stay in the zone" while waiting on the tool. And so I often get... distracted. By attempting to "save time!!"

@mu_chrinovic There are many paths to being a good data scientist and different people bring different skills. There is likely much more to what a data scientist does than what I've mentioned. It's probably different between teams and companies as well. (11/11)

@mu_chrinovic With knowledge about statiscal methods you can be more certain about when the numbers you see can be trusted and when it's just random noise you're seeing. With understanding of and interest in the product you know if the data you see is reasonable or not. (10/?)
