@the_transit_guy I’ve lived in Atlanta (downtown and Cobb suburbs) for 20 years. The answer is racism. The suburbs don’t want “crime” coming to their burbs. Not sure who started this and it’s obviously ridiculous but it’s racism by another name.

There is absolutely no explanation for why the Atlanta metro area's population doubled over the last 25 years while not a single linear foot of MARTA track was added.

@SymoneDSanders I hope we do, but the odds are NOT in her favor. If it weren’t for Atlanta, Georgia would be like Mississippi, Arkansas, or West Virginia. Rural white people in this state will move MOUNTAINS just so they don’t have a black female governor. Racism is a VERY powerful motivator.

People hate on Atlanta so much because our natural confidence, fostered through not existing under white supremacy the same way as other places, comes off as arrogance to other Black people who have no authority over their lives, even if they are wealthy. A lot of Black people in other cities may have money, status, or success, but still psychologically operate under systems where whiteness is the center of power, approval, opportunity, and validation. And the hate is double cause even some white people who visit the city are made uncomfortable by our natural blackness and authority.

6 years of living in Texas and I've come to the conclusion that the no state income tax thing is basically a scam. The property taxes are so high that they negate any savings. We are still paying as many taxes in Texas as we would in California. You save on gas I guess.
