Looming is an interesting phenomenon where a seemingly innocuous or even benevolent entity casts a long, dark shadow over the future; the feeling that even if everything works out okay for us individually, collectively we're fucked. Robotics and AI are looming. Climate change is looming. Overpopulation is looming. Sometimes when you shine a light on an instance of looming, the entity itself moves to cut you down. Other times the light has no effect, and the entity looms on, unphased. What are some other examples of looming?

it’s crazy to see everyone claim AI’s in a bubble when GPUs are at 100% utilisation across the board. there are literally 8 year old TPUs at Google being used to provide inference and training compute. same story at CoreWeave who’re reselling 4th/5th generation NVIDIA GPUs for premium secondary market prices. the truth is the complete opposite. demand for models are off the charts and there isn’t enough compute to go around. oh and it gets worse - there’s not enough energy to power the GPUs :) as you’re reading this there’s 2 brand new multi $100M data centers fitted with the latest gear that are… sitting empty because the energy grids aren’t available to power them. so next time you’re worried about the capex bubble focus less on Sama’s trillion-dollar financing and look at the the gpu supplier + energy grid demand, as it stands it’s up-only sorry to say the nutty projections are only going to get nuttier

This doesn't mean you can't emulate the tactics other accounts use, btw. I got my background color/branding strategy from @DefiIgnas like 3 years ago. I often use the formatting deployed by other people. If you can reflect on why you behave certain ways on this platform, and can then internalize that and deploy it in your own posts you just constantly evolve. We're all humans, and it's likely whatever worked on you also works on others.

Real. I'm so, so bearish on people trying to play characters. I often consult people in MegaMafia on their social presence and 99% of my advice is to make CT work for you. Find the conversations you enjoy, and contribute. It's literally that simple. Approach it selfishly and it will energize you because you're having the convos you want, about the things that stimulate your brain, and you're gaining friends (and nemesis) along the way. Literally just be you. It's the most sustainable way to grow on X and subsequently in this industry.

Most interesting notes from this migration: → Will not use $ETH as gas → Will be altDA (EigenDA cited in blog) → Security budget for being an L1 being repurposed for builder incentives, which also uses a "Builder Score" that combines on and offchain metr → Courting the L2 "stacks" for packages (OP, Arbitrum, Polygon, ZKSync, etc) → Positioning from "Gaming" chain to General Purpose Makes total sense for Ronin, but is minimally value-accretive to $ETH and Ethereum. No $ETH will be used as money outside of the Ronin Treasury subsidizing the settlement costs.

Smol reminder that BTC and ETH have the exact same roadmap, but ETH: → Is further along it → Can facilitate execution itself BTC issuance will stop one day, and at that juncture they have a few options to survive: → Remove 21m cap (ded) → Become programmable → Co-opted by governments to defend their (heavy) bags for free I think likelihood of occuring is 3-2-1. Long way out though and in that time smartcontract platforms can capture a lot of value.

BTC maxis are opening a can of worms by incessantly talking about ETH supply under PoS in a world where they no longer control the narrative and TradFi is already buying into ETH massively with recent flows outpacing those into BTC because it invites a lot of very uncomfortable questions about BTC's longterm security policy i don't think they realize how big of a mistake this is yet

Humanity destroys itself. That's clear. What's not clear is why. We start by solving problems, like "how do we get more food with less work" and "how do we make homes that keep us safe when we sleep" and if we're successful enough for a long time, we end up with big cities and more wealth than we need. Then, women start demanding more of that wealth and offer less in exchange for it, and men have to compete to satisfy women's demands. Those demands tear all of that wealth apart and throw it away, for nothing. You start in a cave, bringing a woman dead animals and sticks, and she gives you 7 children and never questions your direction. You end up in a house with clean, running water and electric lights, an SUV connected to a satellite, and a fridge full of food items unimaginable to a caveman, and she says she's "unfulfilled" and "needs to grow" by wandering off to find more stimulation, which means "a newer SUV and a bigger fridge." (all value is material) These demands then become political. "You have to give me more because I deserve it" increasingly becomes the law, until "deserving" outpaces "creating," at which point the houses start to fall apart and never get rebuilt, the 7 children are never born, the SUV gets older without being replaced, and eventually there's so little power left that it can't be defended, at which point the people who were still in caves walk in and take it. So solving all of our problems just results in putting female demands in power, and they demand until there's nothing to be demanded, at which point everything we built is gone. Is this uniquely human? Would all species behave this way? That's what I don't get. Are humans just broken?

it’s interesting to me that OpenAI’s top 2 recent product launches weren’t new models but ‘personality updates’ remember when 4o launched? that shit was the glaze-king but 25yo’s and below loved it. now gpt is too much of a narc so sama’s dialling the glaze up. expect to see this type of personality fine-tuning a LOT more. especially in new apps / agents. user retention = nailing the personality of that users ai model.
