I think it’s way past time we stopped listening to the nay-sayers who insist the demand for bike routes just isn’t there, that biking mode share is small, etc... 12,700 riders on one day, on one stretch of road, is mind-blowing.
Dale Bracewell@Dale_Bracewell

*UPDATE* My daughter & I were part of a record day on #Beach - where our cycling volume reached a peak of 12,700 on July 5th !!! (yes, a one day count of twelve thousand seven hundred)

Build for those left behind. "[T]emporary restrictions and barriers brought on during COVID-19 have helped... increase...cycling, but locking in those gains, and keeping everyone safe, requires more permanent solutions." Ian Jack, VP Public Affairs, @CAA caa.ca/infrastructure…

Thank you @CityofLdnOnt for working amazingly fast. I reported a sink hole forming and within 2 days this is done. Looks temporary but must have been bigger than I thought. @bikemayor this was that dip

Huge. Edmonton’s proposed bylaw eliminates minimum parking requirements for all new development. All cities need to do this. Allow the market to decide. (In Winnipeg every unit requires 1.5 parking stalls - 1.2 in mature neighbourhoods)
Kalen@KalenAnderson

Boom! There it is. Proposed Bylaw changes to enable open option parking (no mandatory minimums) are headed to #yegcc Public Hearing on June 23: sirepub.edmonton.ca/sirepub/mobile… This is an important move for better city-making and a more flexible market based approach. #yegplan #yegdesign

Women who want to cycle: Here are things you need to know. (A thread) 1. You are allowed to be there (in the space, in the sidewalk, in the road, in the saddle) 2. You can wear whatever the hell is comfortable for you. I vacillate between shorts and dresses
