Ottawa West Winter Trail

As you know we are working hard to keep the trail open during this crazy winter. We are far below our funding goal of $7000. Expenses are high with two ATV's having required repairs this season, plus a new groomer. Please, please, donate! gofund.me/747b1d70

The fresh snow was a great help to the trail but it also covered the bare pavement with not quite enough so your skis stick! Be careful. Classics are less icy with the fresh snow. Both are icy in patches but it’s very skiable and it’s a beautiful day. Go ski!

As per the earlier post, the N/S trails were groomed last night, and then around midnight groomer Jim did the DND Loop and Wildlife Spur. Tom should be starting the core soon. (Stay warm Tom as it’s chilly 🥶 out there! nordic-pulse.com/ski-areas/CA/O…

A huge shout out to the groomers. I know nothing about the science behind grooming snow, but I have to assume this has not been an easy winter to maintain an urban ski trail. The classic tracks were so nice and the weather was beautiful (Kristi)

Recent cold temps and the gift of more snow lately has resulted in excellent trail conditions. Only a very few places showing hints of grass now. As it appears we're already in very good shape we only refreshed the skate lanes on the TCT, Treatment and Christmas loops today

Trails are amazing

Groomer Tom: set tracks on the E-W route from March past Moodie to Abbott field. The trail is in excellent shape Groomer Chris, who filled in on the N-S route. Big shoutout to Kanata Nordic for making it possible for us to work in tandem when needed. nordic-pulse.com/ski-areas/CA/O…

Groomer Jean: Skate lanes along March to Moodie, Carling to Corkstown and two loops (Tree and Treatment) have been resurfaced. Most part has about 1"of loose granulars, some areas can be hard, uneven and icy nordic-pulse.com/ski-areas/CA/O…

Great sunset ski today, classic tracks are faster than usual. Skate skiing is amazing and snowshoers were out too

New trail segment is called DNN Wildlife Spur

DND loop was incredible tonight. There are little to no classic tracks so it’s super wide right now. No ice at all. Just granular speed! Thanks snow shovel elves for snow under the train tracks and over the wooden footbridge! All tacks west of train tracks are icy! - Miles.
