I tried to watch the game last night with some level of interest, it was a real chore as there was no fan noise, at least not what we see when CC on floor, the basketball play was as expected and as we see with every other W team, mediocre. Here is the difference for me, when CC has the ball in her hands, every play has potential for excitement, a pass for assist, a long 3, a drive, it brings anticipation and expectation! Her defense is as good as any other players defense on floor and she is smart, always anticipating the pass for interception or keeping her eye on the ball and poking it away to stop a drive or layup. So far, I have not found another player in the league that brings that level of excitement to the game. It truly is next level for the women's game.

@BlameVenom So according SW, CC being out is a blessing in that the other players 'find themselves'! So with CC playing then she is suppressing her teammates from playing their best?

@robinlundberg The very best coaching SW and staff can be is to step into the background, concentrate on defensive assignments and substitution rotations, the only set plays needed are inbound and out of time outs... otherwise let the ladies 'slice and dice' and PnR and run run run!

All she’s saying is they can go to the same spots on the floor so they can run their actions consistently. Damiris Dantas is not going to be featured.

The play referenced with Billings getting 2 free throws from CC pass, I thought of this last night, if player gets fouled to prevent basket and makes both free throws then it should also count as an assist for the player feeding her the pass. If player misses one or both FT's then no assist ... just as if they had missed the shot to begin with...

@cdssportspod Reminds me of my sons HS football coach years ago, when he said we can only pass to the tight end once and after that the defense keys on it... I would run CC and AB PnR as much as possible and until the defense proves they have an answer to stop it.

You NEVER go away from your strengths. You impose your will on the other team. Going away from the Caitlin Clark Aliyah Boson PnR because other teams know it's coming is the dumbest thing ever uttered by a coach. It's a fire-able offense all by itself.

@ktkingster Put together a highlight clip of the 7 to 10 additional assists she could of had if her teammate had made the layup....

I agree, many teams looking to use their speed for fast break opportunities, however those come off rebounds more often then after opponents made shot and I am hoping we see Fever rebounding improve from what we've seen in preseason with our full complement of players back on the court.

I love the idea of the Indiana Fever playing fast and running people out of the gym, but I watched a bunch of preseason games, and I’m gonna say, we aren’t the only team that’s going to be playing fast.
