Epic doesn’t even begin to describe what this game is for the state. I was an 8th grader in 1984. I idolized Kelly Bradley and Kelly Davis. I endured the long dark years of the streak. It often felt like it was 2 steps forward and 3 steps back for the Cats. Being in the playoffs, let alone being a national title contender year in and year out seemed like the impossible dream.
