To engage in crass dialogue for a bit, a simple change here would have pissed less people off. Just have it be defiant dialogue. “I’ll fucking suck your dick.” Changes to “Suck my fucking dick.” “You want me to eat shit? I’ll eat your fucking shit.” Changes to “Eat my ass, you fucking shit-eater.” The reliance on crudeness still kind of robs the scene of its weight in the end, but it’s more in line with how someone like Homelander would go out. Course, it wouldn’t give Kripke his power fantasy of killing the orange man after rendering him pathetic, but that’s on him for being a terrible writer.

Nah this particular scene was perfect to me. The series pretty much spells out that he’s a psychopath manchild with no real combat skills besides spamming his laser eyes and his super strength. Without them this is exactly what he is: a pathetic man throwing a tantrum
