@xwanyex We had one of these puzzles that made the animal noise when you placed the piece correctly. It was light sensitive, so when we left the board on the front porch, we would start hearing animal noises outside at sunset

@blacknredtext Doom Eternal. The gameplay seems so elegant but it's way more of a chore to play than 2016

@PaulAnleitner Honestly modern Amazon rentals more or less scratch that itch. What made Netflix pernicious was that it inadvertently changed the kind of movies that got made.

If Pizza Hut can return, then we can resurrect Blockbuster. And we should. While Netflix made things more “convenient” we lost something irreplaceable: The ritual of going to a place with your family or friends to choose a story together. That experience was special.

@JesseLucasSaga I think it was fun for engineers/developers, because there were a ton of new, interesting problems to solve (I saw lots of college student demos). But solving those problems means you get the best version of something I still don't want

@PeterStanhope1 There was never a "scene," there were never cool obscure games and demos messing with the potential of the hardware, if you wanted to do anything in VR you had to do it with some kind of licensing and approval and app store from the headset manufacturer and it was gross

I wonder if Rand modeled her leading men after Rhet Butler. A lot of them do that condescending sneer when they're being romantic

My greatest lit-related regret is trying so hard to love Gene Wolfe and concluding, reluctantly, that his obscurity is a self-indulgence I'm free to dislike.

I must retract. India is amoral (not necessarily immoral) because Indians lack consciousness, which is correlated with their 76 IQ. People with low consciousness by definition accept a degraded life more easily. They don't feel the discomforts, humiliations, etc. as badly.
Jayant Bhandari@JayantBhandari5

A visit to India is absolutely necessary to understand the degradation that human beings are capable of accepting. Every man should visit India, and maybe work there for a few months.
