Amazon warehouse workers are paid less than a living wage for NYC, which means they are forced onto taxpayer social safety nets, increasing the tax burden on New Yorkers. It’s not about demonizing companies, it’s about ending the exploitation of NYC and its residents.

Did you ever think that maybe the reason the cost of living in NYC is so high for the working class — the housing costs, taxes, inflation, healthcare costs, food costs — is because of the government policies? Billionaires and corporations aren’t hurting. Working class New Yorkers are. Trickle down economics has never worked and only drives wealth inequality and decimates the middle class. It’s not unreasonable to demand, through policy, that billionaires and corporations pay their fair share in taxes, and our collective tax dollars are reinvested in the programs that help all New Yorkers, and create public good. It’s also not unreasonable to demand, through policy, that corporations shouldn’t be allowed to exploit New Yorkers. That’s not socialism — that is literally the function of government. And to be clear — nowhere in NY is a minimum wage a living wage, which means our taxes go up and our services cut, while our tax dollars are subsidizing corporate profits on top of them getting tax breaks.

Restaurants are getting hit from every direction right now. Food costs up 46% in shipping alone. Rent up. Labor up. Utilities up. And then you are supposed to tip on top of all of that. A fast food meal is already $15. A sit down meal with two drinks and a tip is $80 for two people. Restaurants were the last affordable social outlet the working class had. Now even that is gone.

@UziCryptoo Why invest yourr money in the stock market if the government is going to tax the stocks value real time. That makes absolutely no sense at all. Might as well buy black market gold and bury it somewhere. This will destroy the stock market and create an underground black market.

You can't tax rich people on unrealized gains from stocks because "it's not real money until it's sold." So explain to me why my property taxes keep going up based on the unrealized value of my house? I didn't sell it. I didn't cash out. I didn't make a profit. But somehow I'm paying taxes on paper gains every single year. Interesting how "unrealized gains" only become a problem when wealthy folks are involved.
