After the FM's repeated appeals, now when the CEA has to beg Indian industrialists to invest in India, 3 lessons become apparent - 1) All other than Adani and Ambani are cautious (Have no interest in investing in the India story; Next gen more keen on family offices; plus the real fear of getting acquired or destroyed anytime by A or A with zero protection from the System) 2) Consumer demand is hugely stressed (Beyond the Godi media fairytales, the ground situation of vast section of Indian middle class is bad. Consumption is down, incomes are stagnant, jobs are in peril, people are naturally cautious) 3) When profits can be made without fresh investments, why even bother (Huge corporate tax cuts pushed profit margins automatically (since 2019), so why even take any risk of new greenfield investments, plus the AI-risk factor that can turn obsolete some new ventures) What the government can, and should do, is claw back all profits (with interest) that corporates made due to tax rate cut (bonanza) and tell them bluntly what's the point even helping you when India is not your game.
