If we’re going to tell the 70 other teams in the FBS that they don’t matter for the FBS playoffs, really slam the door and make it a straight seed invitational

This is because 24 actually aligns incentives for the second-tier Big Ten programs to start spending, because there's real line of sight to payoffs. 16 makes that path considerably less less incentivized.
