May 2024. Black Male Shoots Married White Couple Over Basketball Hoop Dispute. Norman Scott, 63, was arrested for killing Taylor and Tara Jones. Security camera footage shows Taylor Jones cleaning up his yard until Scott beckons him over and they start talking. During the discussion, Scott was clearly upset and yelling at the victim. The victim didn't appear "aggressive, threatening, volatile, or belligerent.” At one point, Scott made hand gestures toward a basketball hoop. Less than 30 seconds into the conversation between the two men, Scott pulled out a gun and shot at Taylor Jones multiple times hitting him once in the left eye, once in the back and once in the upper right leg. The wife, Tara Jones, who was on her property trying to retreat, was shot three times, once in both legs and once in the upper chest. Scott faces two charges of first-degree murder with a firearm. He is being held in the Palm Beach County jail without bond. The Jones leave behind four children.
