@Vote4ABC More housing supply is definitely part of the solution, and it’s good to see affordability finally moving in a better direction for some people. The real test will be whether the progress continues and actually helps everyday residents stay and thrive in Vancouver long term

Your ABC Vancouver team is making life more affordable for you by cutting red tape, lowering construction costs, and getting more homes built faster across the city. Vancouver is seeing one of the steepest rent declines in Canada — a clear sign that increasing housing supply and removing barriers to building is starting to bring costs down. We can’t afford to go back. We need to keep moving forward and keep making life more affordable for everyone in Vancouver.

📊 Vancouver rents are down 19.4% from their September 2023 peak. 29 straight months of year-over-year declines. We streamlined the rules. Builders started building. Renters started saving.

Remember folks this is just asking rents. The decline in asking rents, as averaged from rentals.com is concentrated in newer, higher-priced buildings. These figures do not reflect what the vast majority of renters in Vancouver are actually paying.
Mayor Ken Sim@KenSimCity

Vancouver renters are finally getting relief because we’re building more homes and removing the barriers that drive costs up. That’s not by accident; when you make it faster and easier to build, rents stop climbing and start coming down. See my full statement below:

The whole “take the BPA” in Reid or Carels over Malhotra because that’s reaching for organizational need, is silly to me. I see Malhotra as a 1st line C upside & the D as second pairing guys/support guy on first pairing upside. Since when is a 🇨🇦 C with ALL the tools a reach?

@umathurman24 @KevinLacy22 Canucks have a bunch of young wingers. You're not helping them solve the two most important positions in hockey. That's a C and a D. You start with Misa first, then they may listen.

@umathurman24 @KevinLacy22 Not enough! Two good wingers and a 2nd only for a superstar D? No team would do that. That deal wouldn't even help the Canucks who would be searching for a young star D. The Minny deal is much better.

From a Sharks perspective, it's a shame that the Canucks traded Quinn Hughes to the Wild. Could you imagine if Hughes was still on their roster, they lost the draft lottery, and then here come the Sharks to dangle the 2nd overall pick like a carrot? What could have been!

@KevinLacy22 IDK. What would SJS offer? 2nd OV and what? Canucks were looking for a young NHL player, 2nd line C, a young D and a 1st. What would SJS offer to beat it?

@RWong1975 No kidding. But being able to offer a 2nd overall pick to a team that lost the lottery is a hell of a lot better trade chip than Filip Bystedt mid-season.

@affehockey Edmonton could have probably done it but they traded their 1st rd picks for depth. None on goalies. Also, it would cost way more than just a young forward for a top 2 D. Even Canucks had a tough time getting a no.2 C. It only costed them Q Hughes.

@RWong1975 Edmonton didn’t have anywhere near the assets that the Sharks have though.

@affehockey They can trade a forward but it won't be a top 2 young D. Edmonton couldn't even get a no.1 goalie. Other teams know other teams weaknesses.

@RWong1975 If they pick Stenberg I think they’ll trade a forward.

@KyleDemetrius @Metsunie Not really. Florida won a cups with Ekblad and Forsling. Blues won with Pietrangelo and Bouwmeester. Sharks only have Dickinson and he's ok. Need way more!

@Metsunie Yeah. Everyone focuses on the Norris winners, but with the #1 offense in the league you can manage. Also a lot of the elite guys were drafted in the back half of R1 or later anyway

It also doesn’t need to be Quinn Hughes 2.0 A top flight dman for the Sharks could just be a solid top pair guy with a lot of good pieces on the blue line as well. Look at Utah, no one would say Sergachev is a bonafide elite Dman, merely a great top pair guy.
Tommy Clam@tommyclam

@KyleDemetrius I agree stenberg is the right pick but no #1 D is getting moved for that little. It’s so hard to find a #1 D, it’ll take a huge haul to trade for one.

@KyleDemetrius Except teams don't value wingers. Teams don't part with a top young D unless there is a dispute.

Stenberg would immediately slot in as a top 3 forward on this team. The D this high won’t be ready like that, even Chase Reid. Mack Misa Stenberg Smith Eklund Chernyshov That’s an insane top 6 and gives the room to trade an EK/Cherny for a top flight d man

@Kneckt @Ghostghostgoose @sekeresandprice But would teams but interested in trading a young high end talent for high end wingers? Not likely. High end young D's are hard to find and rarely available. Wingers are much more expendable.

If the San Jose Sharks select a defenceman second overall, who do you want the #Canucks to draft?
