51 months since the full-scale invasion began. Amid the horrific attacks by the rashists on Kyiv, which more closely resemble death throes. Amid the valiant and heroic efforts of the Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces. Amid the telling silence of some of our partners. But Ukraine will stand firm. Moscow will fall, just as all evil pseudo-empires have fallen. And those who remained silent will forever be branded with the mark of shame, cowardice, and indifference. Do not remain silent. The choice is yours alone.

Held a meeting with the leader of the Republicans party and Senator @BrunoRetailleau. We discussed European security and Europe’s key role in ensuring it. We must stay strong together so that the aggressor does not attempt to attack — militarily, politically, or through hybrid means. That is why unity and support for Ukraine are critically important today. I stressed that Ukraine is ready to work together with the EU to increase pressure on moscow — particularly through sanctions policy and by strengthening long-range capabilities. Efforts to counter sanctions circumvention must also be reinforced. Ukraine is also ready to share its unique experience in countering aggression so that together we can become stronger. Bruno Retailleau emphasised that Ukraine today demonstrates what international relations should be based on: international law, freedom, and respect for state sovereignty. He stressed that Ukrainians’ struggle is the struggle of all Europe, because if putin is not stopped now, he will not stop at Ukraine. We also highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy for strengthening democratic alliances and bringing a just and lasting peace closer.

Провів зустріч із главою партії «Республіканці» та сенатором Бруно Ретайо. Обговорили питання безпеки Європи та ключову роль Європи у її забезпеченні. Ми маємо бути сильними разом, щоб агресор не намагався атакувати — військово, політично чи через гібридні інструменти. Саме тому єдність і підтримка України сьогодні є критично важливими. Наголосив, що Україна готова разом із ЄС посилювати тиск на москву — зокрема через санкційну політику та зміцнення далекобійних спроможностей. Так само має посилюватися боротьба з механізмами обходу санкцій. Україна також готова ділитися унікальним досвідом протидії агресору — щоб разом бути сильнішими. Бруно Ретайо підкреслив: Україна сьогодні демонструє, якими мають бути міжнародні відносини — заснованими на міжнародному праві, свободі та повазі до суверенітету держав. Він наголосив, що боротьба українців — це боротьба всієї Європи, адже якщо не зупинити путіна зараз, він не зупиниться на Україні. Окремо відзначили важливість парламентської дипломатії для зміцнення демократичних союзів та наближення справедливого і тривалого миру.

205 of our defenders are home! 🇺🇦 Today, warriors of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, and the State Border Guard Service returned from russian captivity. This is the first step of a major exchange in the “1000 for 1000” format. Among those released are the unbreakable defenders of Mariupol, Azovstal, the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, and many other directions. Most of them had been held in captivity since 2022. On behalf of the Ukrainian Parliament, I thank the President of Ukraine, the Coordination Headquarters, our international partners, and, of course, every warrior on the frontline who helps replenish the exchange fund. We remember everyone who still remains in captivity. The state continues its fight until each and every one returns to their native land.

205 наших оборонців — удома! 🇺🇦 Сьогодні з російської неволі повернулися воїни Збройних Сил України, Національної гвардії та Державної прикордонної служби. Це перший крок великого обміну у форматі «1000 на 1000». Серед звільнених — незламні захисники Маріуполя, «Азовсталі», ЧАЕС та багатьох інших напрямків. Більшість із них перебували в полоні ще з 2022 року. Від імені українського Парламенту дякую Президенту України, Координаційному штабу, міжнародним партнерам і, безперечно, кожному нашому воїну на передовій, який допомагає поповнювати обмінний фонд. Пам’ятаємо про всіх, хто досі залишається в неволі. Держава продовжує боротьбу, доки кожен і кожна не повернуться на рідну землю.

675 attack drones and 56 missiles. This is not just the statistics of one night — it is the scale of a deliberate genocide that russia continues to carry out in the heart of Europe. Kyiv — a strike on an ordinary nine-storey residential building. Apartments destroyed, lives shattered. Sadly, one person was killed and dozens were injured. My deepest condolences to the family. My profound gratitude to our rescuers, medics, police officers, and utility workers, who are right now clearing rubble and saving lives. In addition to the capital, the enemy launched a massive attack on the Kyiv region, targeted energy infrastructure in Kremenchuk, and struck port infrastructure and residential buildings in the Odesa region. When some in the world begin discussing the aggressor’s readiness for peace, russia responds with thousands of Shaheds and ballistic missiles aimed at residential neighbourhoods. This must be the final inoculation against illusions for the free world. The Ukrainian Parliament once again emphasises: terror is stopped not by persuasion but by strength. We call on our partners to take firm and swift decisions. Ukraine’s sky urgently needs to be reinforced with air defence systems and stable funding for the PURL programme to intercept ballistic targets. And russia’s war economy must finally be suffocated by total sanctions pressure.

675 ударних дронів та 56 ракет. Це не просто статистика однієї ночі — це масштаб свідомого геноциду, який росія продовжує здійснювати у центрі Європи. Київ, влучання у звичайну дев’ятиповерхівку. Зруйновані квартири, скалічені долі. На жаль, є загибла людина, десятки поранених. Мої найщиріші співчуття родині. Низький уклін нашим рятувальникам, медикам, поліцейським і комунальникам, які просто зараз продовжують розбирати завали та рятувати життя. Окрім столиці, ворог масовано атакував Київщину, цілив по енергетиці у Кременчуку, бив по портовій інфраструктурі та житлових будинках на Одещині. Коли у світі починають обговорювати готовність агресора до миру, росія відповідає тисячами шахедів і балістикою по спальних районах. Це має стати остаточним щепленням від ілюзій для вільного світу. Український Парламент вкотре наголошує: терор зупиняється не вмовляннями, а силою. Ми закликаємо наших партнерів до жорстких та швидких рішень. Українське небо потребує негайного посилення системами ППО та стабільного фінансування програми PURL для перехоплення балістичних цілей. А російська економіка війни має бути остаточно задушена тотальним санкційним тиском.

Political oblivion is a terrible diagnosis. When no one remembers a person anymore, a painful, hysterical need emerges to remind the world of oneself at any cost — even if that cost is conscious work for the enemy and the loss of statehood of the country where you were born. And it is especially convenient to do so from the safety of a foreign TV studio, from where it is so easy to trade Ukrainian territories. The recent interview on Tucker Carlson’s channel is a textbook manifestation of such desperation. The paradox is this: as soon as a person disappears from the radar and loses respect for the institution of the President of their own country — a country that is defending itself from aggression every day — they immediately begin to curry favour with an entirely different president. This is where these attempts to blur reality come from. When an attack on an independent state, unprovoked aggression, and undeniable crimes against humanity suddenly cease to be “black and white,” this is not insider knowledge or deep analysis. It is a banal copy of the russian line that “not everything is so clear-cut.” And it is through this manipulation that they are now trying to sell fabricated stories about “surrendering Donbas” and proposals to trade land for an imaginary salvation. The truth is that the President of Ukraine has never considered surrendering people and territories as a path to peace. And Parliament is absolutely united with the Head of State in this position. This stance has remained principled from the first day of the invasion to this day. A state cannot be preserved by handing it over to the enemy piece by piece. Ukraine is being saved not by capitulation disguised as compromise, but by the daily heroism of the Defence Forces and the tireless work of every Ukrainian man and woman for victory. So let us maintain information hygiene, support our army, and unite around the Ukrainian state institutions. 🇺🇦

Політичне забуття — страшний діагноз. Коли про людину вже ніхто не згадує, з'являється хвороблива, істерична потреба нагадати про себе за будь-яку ціну. Навіть якщо ця ціна — свідома робота на ворога та втрата державності країни, в якій ти народилася. І особливо зручно робити це з безпечної закордонної телестудії, звідки так легко торгувати українськими територіями. Нещодавнє інтерв'ю на каналі Такера Карлсона — це класичний прояв такого відчаю. Парадокс: як тільки хтось зникає з радарів і втрачає повагу до інституту Президента власної країни, яка щодня відбивається від агресії, ця людина миттєво починає вислужуватися перед зовсім іншим президентом. Звідси й беруться ці спроби розмити реальність. Коли напад на незалежну державу, нічим неспровокована агресія, беззаперечні злочини проти людяності раптом перестають бути «чорним і білим» — це не інсайди чи глибока аналітика. Це банальна калька з російського «нє всьо так адназначна». І саме через цю маніпуляцію зараз намагаються продати вигадані історії про «здачу Донбасу» та пропозиції торгувати землями заради уявного порятунку. Правда ж полягає в тому, що Президент України ніколи не розглядав здачу людей та земель як шлях до миру. І Парламент абсолютно єдиний із Главою держави у цій позиції. Вона залишається принциповою від першого дня вторгнення і до сьогодні. Державу неможливо зберегти, віддаючи її ворогу шматками. Україну рятує не капітуляція під виглядом компромісу, а щоденний подвиг Сил оборони та невтомна праця кожного українця й українки заради перемоги. Тому тримаємо інформаційну гігієну, підтримуємо свою армію, єднаємося довкола українських державних інституцій. 🇺🇦

A historic visit to Ukraine by the President of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain, @F_Armengol. I am pleased to welcome Madam President to Kyiv. This is her first visit to Ukraine and the first by a President of the Spanish Congress of Deputies to our country in the history of our bilateral relations. I thanked Spain for its comprehensive support for Ukraine — political, defence, humanitarian, and financial. I also highlighted the decisions adopted by the Congress in support of Ukraine since 2022. Each such document is a powerful signal of unity, determination, and commitment to defending freedom and international law. Among the key topics of our conversation were strengthening Ukraine’s air defence, joint production with Ukraine, European integration, sanctions pressure on russia, the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression, and the return of Ukrainian children deported or forcibly transferred by russia. We also discussed engagement with the Ibero-American community. Strengthening relations with Latin America and the Caribbean is one of Ukraine’s important priorities, and we value Spain’s role in this area. I also raised the issue of recognising the 1944 deportation of the Crimean Tatar people as an act of genocide. On 18 May, Ukraine will honour the memory of the victims of this crime, and the support of international partners in restoring historical justice is particularly important. I am grateful to Francina Armengol for this visit, for her sincere support for Ukraine, and for her readiness to deepen interparliamentary cooperation between our states. Spain has been and remains an important friend of Ukraine.

Історичний візит в Україну Голови Конгресу депутатів Королівства Іспанія Франсіни Арменголь. Радий вітати пані Голову у Києві. Це її перший візит до України і перший в історії наших двосторонніх відносин візит Голови іспанського Конгресу депутатів до нашої держави. Подякував Іспанії за всебічну підтримку України — політичну, оборонну, гуманітарну та фінансову. Окремо відзначив усі рішення, ухвалені Конгресом на підтримку України від 2022 року. Кожен такий документ — це потужний сигнал єдності, рішучості та відданості захисту свободи й міжнародного права. Серед ключових тем нашої розмови — посилення української протиповітряної оборони, спільне виробництво з Україною, європейська інтеграція, санкційний тиск на росію, створення Спеціального трибуналу щодо злочину агресії та повернення українських дітей, яких росія депортувала або примусово перемістила. Окремо обговорили взаємодію з Іберо-американською спільнотою. Зміцнення відносин із Латинською Америкою та Карибським басейном є одним із важливих пріоритетів України, і ми цінуємо роль Іспанії у цьому напрямі. Також порушив питання визнання депортації кримськотатарського народу у 1944 році актом геноциду. 18 травня Україна вшановуватиме пам’ять жертв цього злочину, і підтримка міжнародних партнерів у відновленні історичної справедливості має особливе значення. Вдячний Франсіні Арменголь за цей візит, за щиру підтримку України і за готовність поглиблювати міжпарламентську співпрацю між нашими державами. Іспанія була й залишається важливим другом України.

Їхні історії — це невимовний український біль, але водночас і наша стійкість та незламність. Цей день нагадує нам усім, що війна триває. Європа, східним форпостом якої є Україна, сьогодні потребує сили та єдності. За нашими східними кордонами лежить цивілізаційна прірва, і протистояти цьому злу ми можемо лише разом, підтримуючи одне одного. Для нас це набагато більше, ніж урочиста церемонія. Це підтвердження єдності з європейською родиною та незмінності нашого курсу. Парламент робить усе необхідне, щоб Україна якнайшвидше пройшла шлях реформ і стала повноправним членом ЄС. Вдячний Послу Європейського Союзу в Україні Катаріні Матерновій, представникам Європарламенту, послам держав-членів ЄС і країн-кандидатів, народним депутатам України та всім, хто сьогодні був разом із нами. Наше місце — в Європейському Союзі. І ми щодня наближаємо цей день. З Днем Європи! Слава Україні! 🇺🇦

The European Union flag near the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is not just a symbol. It is a sign of our choice, our struggle, and our future. Today, on Europe Day, the EU flag was raised on Constitution Square by people whose destinies embody Ukraine: Liliia Averianova, the mother of fallen military pilot Andrii “Juice” Pilshchykov, and Roman Oleksiv, a boy who survived the missile strike on Vinnytsia. Their stories are an unspeakable Ukrainian pain, but at the same time, our resilience and invincibility. This day reminds us all that the war continues. Europe, whose eastern outpost is Ukraine, today needs strength and unity. Beyond our eastern borders lies a civilizational abyss, and we can confront this evil only together, supporting one another. For us, this is much more than a solemn ceremony. It is a confirmation of our unity with the European family and the immutability of our course. Parliament is doing everything necessary for Ukraine to complete the path of reforms as quickly as possible and become a full member of the EU. I am grateful to the Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine, @kmathernova, representatives of the European Parliament, ambassadors of EU Member States and candidate countries, Members of Parliament of Ukraine, and everyone who stood with us today.
