Vote on the Energy & Sustainability Framework:
Passes unanimously. There is a round of applause from the gallery. #yqrcc

English

@PDcityhall Very disrespectful imho. Curious if City Council has asked for a legal opinion on liability if someone (including City workers) and/or their loved ones are harmed by covid exposure on a bus or other City facilities. I understand the SMA supports mandatory masking? still ?
English

Shaw: On feeling free to wear mask or not. What I see in communication we're strongly encouraging a mask on transit, it city bldgs. As someone who doesn't wear a mask, I don't feel welcome. I don't like that communication. #yqrcc
English

@PDcityhall with respect I disagree. Over 90% of us said bs to them for the past two years by getting vaccinated and wearing masks and social distancing and sanitizing. Moe does not speak for that 90% either.
English

I'm not at all surprised by any of this. Moe basically dared cities & businesses to defy him. And the anti-vaxx anti-mandate crowd are effectively in charge now.
I would argue that in SK they were all along. #yqrcc
English

@PDcityhall IMHO Living by the principle of 'do NO harm' is easy and wearing a masks and sanitizing I how one says to everyone out there " You matter as does the health of those you love, your kids and your grandparents and coworkers". I also respect the Saskatchewan Medical Association .
English

@PDcityhall From all across Canada, lawyers and law faculty like McGill University have publicly stated that employers and governments may in fact be liable for any harm to employees and public who suffer any harm caused by exposure to covid linked to their facilities/workplaces.!!

Zachidniak: Until this point I've been proud of the decisions the city has been making on COVID. From what i've heard, I'm not certain that the city will continue to show leadership. #yqrcc
English

@PDcityhall Yes the Saskatchewan Medical Association (actual medical experts called doctors) says no to lifting any of the present restrictions ...no changes !
English

Hawkins: the sask medical assn recommends health measures remain. Did the officer from SHA explain why his recommendation to us differs from theirs?
Admin: We did not have that conversation. #yqrcc

This tweet screenshot is from Premier Scott Moe on rail blockades exactly two years ago. Feb. 12, 2020.
The video below is from his interview Wed. with @DavidWCochrane on @PnPCBC on blockades and protests happening across Canada now.

Power & Politics@PnPCBC
"I am going to stay out of telling them [protesters] what to do," said Sask. Premier Scott Moe of the ongoing demonstrations in Ottawa, Windsor and Coutts. "It certainly is going to get everyone's attention...and it isn't for me to judge ultimately whether they should or not."

Solar, wind and energy storage can "Power Canada's Journey to Net-Zero including a 2-fold increase in electricity production says a new report. #Solar and #windpwoer are booming now but will need to ramp up 10-fold to get to #netzero. greenenergyfutures.ca/episode/net-ze… via @gef140
English

@PDcityhall such as when you move a bylaw to abolish public input?
English

Clerk: Motions are advanced at all times on the floor of council w/ no public notice.
CitySolicitor: There are times when notice is necessary, such as when a change is so substantive where the public can make comment. #yqrcc
English

@PDcityhall There was NO opportunity to discuss this at Exec nor anywhere prior to Council meeting and that is the point....it is at Council where decisions are actually made so why limit public delegations to that decision making PUBLIC forum??
English

Clerk: There is no time restriction for asking questions of delegations at exec committee. It's a more fulsome body. It's an opportunity to ask questions, allow delegates to feel more relaxed. #yqrcc

@Raven_Lark makes great point about the 2050 target being a political, not scientific target. Pleased to hear so many people raise this problem at the #100Renewable online forum now.
We've #FiveYears of #carbonbudget remaining to exceed 1.5°. Business as usual means ruination.

A few people brought up this very important point at the meeting tonight. 2050 is a political target, not scientific. The limit arrives decades earlier.

According to the new IPCC report, the carbon budget that gives us the best odds of staying below 1,5°C runs out in less than 5 and a half years at our current emissions rate. Maybe someone should ask the people in power how they plan to “solve” that?

@PDcityhall Shocking that Regina City Council did not formally support Bill c6 !!!
English

@PDcityhall This lawyer imho : those opposed to the motions are in actual fact ignoring what the courts have said here in Regina and Canada... and what the INTENT of the proposed law is as stated in the actual proposed law >> is actually stated by our courts as a principle of interpretation
English

@AinaKagis @PDcityhall and ask them if they about their legal position on gay students attending a religious law school and ask them what they said to Prince Albert and other cities about flying Pride Flags etc.
English

@PDcityhall Justice centre for constitutional freedoms. They have constitutional challenge against mask mandates etc
English

Up now, Marty Moore lawyer w/ org for constitutional freedom. [missed formal name]: I'm here to support protections of all Cdns, especially LGBTQ Cdns. #yqrcc

Admin: If the plant did get built but not in Regina area, we'd get that $1mil back but also there'd be an additional $1mil penalty. #yqrcc
