Thanks to tariffs I may add. Tariffs, both in the U.S. and Europe, turned out to be a great gift to Tesla/Elon and is why you won’t hear any criticism from him about tariffs (contrary to before). Others in China have long caught up. I recommend visiting and trying out some of the top competitors’ products.

SpaceX flew Starship and successfully caught the Super Heavy booster in October of 2024. At the time, Starship looked like it was on the verge of being ready for payloads to orbit within months.
Elon even set the expectation that Starship would be going to Mars by 2026 and the only reason it would take that long is because of the Earth/Mars launch window.
18+ months later, Starship did a similar flight, except no plans to catch the booster and both ship & booster had malfunctioning engines! Starship looks like it's still just as far away from a successful payload launch as it was in 2024. 😔

@GohanSaru1 @future_yas I enjoy taking money from the impatient. I'm up 18x on my TSLA since May 2019 because I'm able to separate "predictions" from "realistic". If someone had talked me out of my TSLA purchase, I may not be up anywhere close to 18x. Those sorts of gains don't come along often.

One year ago today [May 20, 2025] Elon Musk was interviewed by CNBC where he predicted Tesla would have a thousand robotaxis in a few months and by end of 2026 there will be hundreds of thousands if not over a million Teslas with unsupervised FSD (robotaxi + customer Teslas).
Today [May 20, 2026] there are a total of 39 unsupervised robotaxis operating only during daylight hours in Austin, Dallas, and Houston. There are 0 customer Teslas with unsupervised FSD. And Tesla still hasn't filed the permit to begin testing driverless cars in California.

We are, indeed, living through the singularity - and it has been fascinating to watch this realization slowly permeate through society: - People in SF and a handful of those on X (including yours truly) generally believe in the imminent singularity. This is significantly more aggressive than my views regarding AI progress were ~12 months ago. - CEOs/management of large enterprises, various public figures and the federal government have recently come to believe in rapid AI progress - I would call this the "Mythos Moment". These views are in line with my views from ~12 months ago (now hopelessly outdated). - Tens (hundreds?) of millions are now using AI in the workplace extensively, and probably mostly view it as a "useful tool". 12 months ago, this was limited to coding, and even the number of coders who were using AI in their day-to-day work was significantly smaller. - Yet the public at large still seems to live in the "hallucinating stochastic parrot" Gary Marcus land. No update in beliefs regarding AI capabilities between GPT-3.5 and now.

FSD v14.3.3 parked the wrong way and hit the curb when it was backing up. I’ve never ever had FSD back up this far during a destination park… it only stopped after I hit the brake once we hit the curb.
