Meet Matt - a Releaf patient since September 2024, managing Tourette's syndrome, arthritis, and anxiety.
Diagnosed with Tourette's in his 40s during COVID, Matt describes it as a shock to the system. The social anxiety that followed had a real impact on his work, his confidence, and the hobbies he loved. Since beginning his medical cannabis treatment plan with Releaf, Matt has found a new sense of consistency - and the confidence to get back out into the world.

@marclanders This is where the impact becomes very real - especially in conditions like severe epilepsy. Reductions in seizure frequency, alongside improvements in sleep and quality of life, can make a huge difference not just for patients but for families as well 💛
English

CBD cut seizures by ≥50% in over HALF of kids!
Overall, 53% (19 out of 36) had a meaningful drop in seizures (≥50% fewer).
In everyday hospital use (not just strict research trials), adding CBD helped reduce seizures for a good number of patients with very difficult epilepsy — especially those with LGS.
Caregivers reported better quality of life in 53% of cases, including improved sleep in about 31%.
Do you or a loved one have experince using CBD for seizures? Let us know in the comments 👇

@marclanders This is where nuance really matters. Conversations around cannabis and mental health are often simplified, but the reality is much more complex - especially when it comes to individual risk factors and context 🧠

@SeedBankME Early-stage research like this is always interesting to follow, especially around inflammation-related conditions. It’s still a long way from translation into human outcomes, but it shows how wide the scope of cannabinoid research is becoming 🔬

Research: Cannabis Compounds Could Help Treat A Common Liver Condition That Affects Nearly A Quarter Of US Adults
So far the results only apply to mice, but the researchers hope for future studies to show whether they hold true in humans too.
Previous research has shown that the non-psychoactive compounds cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabigerol (CBG), which are both derived from the cannabis plant, can reduce liver inflammation and slow the progression of the disease.

@CarverJohns As more attention shifts beyond THC and CBD, it really shows how complex cannabis is as a treatment option. Compounds like CBG and CBC could play a role in more targeted, personalised approaches as the research continues to evolve.

Lesser-Known Cannabinoids: What Are CBG and CBC?
These lesser-known cannabinoids are gaining attention for their potential health benefits, unique roles in the cannabis plant, and promising therapeutic applications.
Understanding CBG and CBC helps reveal just how complex cannabis chemistry is, and why future research may unlock new medical uses for the plant.

@CarverJohns Crohn’s can be incredibly difficult to manage day-to-day, so any improvement in symptoms or remission rates is significant for patients. It highlights how important it is to keep exploring different approaches that can support quality of life alongside traditional care.

@CarverJohns Endometriosis is often about managing ongoing, difficult-to-treat pain - so it’s not surprising to see patients exploring different options. When quality of life improves, even in small ways, it can make a real difference to how people get through their day 🌿

@iambillyuk This highlights how the environment around cannabis use - regulation, quality control, and access - can influence outcomes just as much as the substance itself. Moving people away from the illicit market can change the whole context of use 🌿

“Legal Cannabis Tied to Less Problem Use, Better Mental Health”
Switzerland’s first randomized trial on legal cannabis shows promising results.
Legal access led to reduced problematic use, especially in polydrug users, with no rise in depression or anxiety. Compared to those buying on the black market, users with legal access reported stable mental health and improved overall wellbeing after two years.

@CarverJohns Sleep tends to be one of the first areas patients report improvements in. When people start sleeping better, it often has a knock-on effect on mood, pain, and overall wellbeing - which is why sleep support comes up so often in medical cannabis care 🌙

Understanding Cannabis and Sleep: THC, CBD, and CBN Explained
...cannabis-infused sleep products have become a popular natural remedy for those struggling with sleep issues...
The key compounds in cannabis, known as cannabinoids—especially THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD (cannabidiol), and CBN (cannabinol)—interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system, which plays a significant role in sleep regulation.

@marclanders Really interesting area of research. The relationship between cannabinoids and brain ageing is still being explored, but findings like this show why the neurological effects of cannabis are getting more attention in scientific discussions 🧠🌿
English

@marclanders Stories like this come up often in patient conversations. For some people, medical cannabis becomes part of reducing or moving away from other medications, especially in long-term pain management. It’s a reminder of how individual treatment journeys can be 🌿

Many people are finding this out. Cannabis got me off opioids. 😎

A large study published in the British Medical Journal found no strong evidence linking cannabis use to dementia, cognitive decline, or accelerated brain aging in older adults.
Researchers analyzed large population datasets and genetic data to better understand whether cannabis could directly impact long-term brain health. Their findings suggest that cannabis use was not associated with worsening thinking ability over time or increased dementia risk.
The genetic analysis also found no evidence that cannabis use causes poorer cognitive function. While more research is always ongoing, these results add to a growing body of evidence suggesting that cannabis may not negatively impact brain health in older adults the way it’s often assumed to.
As always, effects can vary depending on the individual, frequency of use, and product type.

😚💨 Researchers reported that those with a history of cannabis use "demonstrated significantly better cognitive performance" and that use "was not associated with increased risk of dementia."

Anxiety and distress can become a huge part of a cancer journey, yet they’re often the hardest symptoms to address. In our experience, many patients seek support for anxiety and sleep alongside their primary condition - it shows how important whole-person care is in treatment conversations 💭
