@laurarathbone @WorldPhysio1951 I went back in 2012 and had to decide, PT or PTA. Me getting a DPT would have used most of both of my kids college funds. So yeah. Between undergrad I would have needed for admission and the program I would have been well over 100,000. And I have a BS and a masters!!!!

Ok. It feels like the world is ending. What film do you watch to calm you down? I'll go: Amelie. Everytime. The music, the simple romance, the frenchness....

@CLFarrar @DerekGriffin86 @AdamMeakins I believe the advice Adam has received to “seek x treatment” is rooted in a few things, and none of them good. 1. The practitioners need to heal others for their validation. 2. The practitioners inability to tolerate the messiness of others. 3. Hubris of clinicians

@mccooltherapy @AdamMeakins To my knowledge the answer is science doesnt know. Lower disability, yes. Pain or chronicity- unlikely We don’t even know why pain becomes chronic in some and not in others. there are factors that make it more likely- like ACE scores. @MelanieNoel has done research into this.

@RestoringVenus @AdamMeakins But my question was can knowledge and understanding of a bps model help reduce the risk/chances of developing chronic pain. Not sure you answered that?

@mccooltherapy @AdamMeakins Does knowledge ever prevent anything? Would it stop a broken bone? If you know how a plane flys, would that stop it from crashing? I think understanding pain is multi factorial, and that LBP is a normal experience enables a person to do as Adam is. Not freaking out.

@AdamMeakins I had a thought some time ago which links to your current situation. Does the knowledge of and belief in the BPS model help reduce the chances of acute LBP turning into chronic LBP? Thoughts?

@tmopain A note to validate and affirm- keeping aspects of your journey private is totally valid! Even when we are open books, share everything and write it down in a memoir! Some things aren’t ready to be shared- this is part of healing! Xoxo

I haven’t been sharing much of my personal journey lately. And quite honestly, part of that is because this stage of “recovery,” whatever that means, kind of sucks. I’m feeling mired in the chronicity of it all.

With the exception of just after surgery, opioids have never been a part of my treatment plan. That said, I'd guess that one of the biggest problems (from a patient POV) is that individuals are force-tapered or discontinued without adequate support. What say you?
LePubScientifique@LePubScientifiq

Upcoming #LePubHB presenter @sirileknes says we have two primary problems when it comes to #opioids... what do you think they are?

I used tramadol on and off, but honestly never found much relief with tramadol or opiates... I think the biggest issue is the way people are treated by medical professionals when they do use meds they have been prescribed and the lack of education given.

@SarahHaagPT Job dissatisfaction was an indicator for LBP. But I’m not sure what answer I would put there instead.

Good morning! If someone asked you ‘what is the most common factor for developing low back pain?’, what would you say? The current correct answer marked on this exam is ‘poor body mechanics’. That’s not correct. What would be a better question? I need to check my biases...

@paintoolkit2 I don’t know I care...... it is a word I have used to describe myself at parts of journey. I certainly did suffer and would have found that comforting at one point. Today I have no idea what to say!

It’s raining and cold and gross. I want to stay in bed and just be quiet today. What do you all do when you know you need to work, but the weather and your mood disagree?

Am I crazy? I’m high risk for severe illness from COVID-19 and have been sheltered for the past year. Even though my wife and I will be fully vaccinated soon, I’m hesitating traveling by car in a couple of months to a tourist destination, stay in a hotel, and eat in public.

@PainChampions Is it a disease process that requires a cure? What does it mean to “cure”? I realized I answered can chronic pain be resolved. In my story- yes. I am 100% pain free after 20 years of debilitating pain. 🤔
