1/4 I’m LAX Police Chief Cecil Rhambo and I am fed up with the corruption that is plaguing LASD. The public trust has been eroded and I can’t sit on the sidelines any longer. The time for reform and new leadership is now. That’s why I’m running to be L.A. County’s next Sheriff.

I’m proud of the campaign we ran, regardless of the result—together we helped build a movement that will help LA County make progress for years to come. I encourage my supporters to unite around Robert Luna so that we can put an end to the corrupt tenure of Alex Villanueva.

And while my race may be over, the fight continues for a better future—one where we put an end to deputy gangs, have a compassionate, holistic response to homelessness, maintain safer communities and ensure transparent accountability at the LASD.

The voters have spoken and I respect their decision. This has been a tough race, and although last night didn’t turn out as we had hoped, I want to congratulate Robert Luna and wish him best in challenging Alex Villanueva.

More horrifying revelations about the behavior of deputy gangs and that the Sheriff ordered yet another coverup into their dangerous activities. As I stated, federal intervention is the only way to finally stop this lawlessness that is destroying the department’s public trust.

America’s heart should be broken. Mine is. At some point, we must have the courage and resolve to address gun control and mental health issues.
