WS/48 is actually a reasonable MVP shorthand because it measures how many wins a player produces per 48 minutes, which adjusts for pace and playing time while tying individual production directly to team success. It’s not perfect, but if someone wants one all-in-one stat to approximate MVP value, it’s one of the better ones. Using that standard consistently, using WS/48 leader = should’ve won MVP: LeBron led the league 5x, won 4 MVPs → 1 season he was passed over Jordan led the league 8x, won 5 MVPs → but just 4 of his MVPs came in years he led WS/48 → 4 seasons passed over, 1 MVP in a year he didn’t lead By that logic and comparing apple to apples: LeBron should have 5 MVPs Jordan should have 8 MVPs
