Megyn Kelly just roasted high heels pretty hard on her show. She said back in her younger “hear me roar” days, she used to joke that heels and tight skirts were men’s way of slowing women down. Now she’s calling them actually damaging , “worse than anything we do to men down there” and completely unfit for human feet. Those ridiculous pointy “pizza slice” shoes. As a guy who’s never had to wear them, I’ve still watched girlfriends and friends hobble around in pain at events and always thought… why do we normalize this? The physical toll looks brutal. Some beauty and professional standards come with real costs that probably aren’t worth it. Comfort and confidence should be able to coexist. Do you think high heels are worth the pain, or is it time we moved on from them?

Utterly normal everywhere. I once lived on a busy street and volunteered my front yard for a very large campaign sign for my GOP congressman. Within a couple of days, someone had come into my yard and spray-painted “Log Cabin Republican“ across the sign. He had no primary opponent, so it had to have been a Democrat.

In Utah, the NGOs and climate professors are running the same playbook about the Great Salt Lake. Billboards everywhere proclaim a crisis. It is at record lows, but we only have 170 years of records. The lake is 15,000 years old. They’re claiming our air will be poisoned if the shoreline gets exposed. We all live on the bed of the lake’s predecessor, Lake Bonneville. But it seems to be working. President Trump promised $1 billion to “save the lake.“ Practically speaking, it’s a shallow, salty, foul-smelling body of useless water that we avoid. Nothing great about it, except for its abundance of magnesium and Sea Monkeys.

We tried to warn climate alarmists that their worst fears were unfounded but they didn’t listen. I have no desire to rub it in because I truly hope they can have the humility to rethink what they think they know. All the doomerism was a PR creation by wealthy Democrats and globalists to make money and gain power. Same playbook goes back many decades. Climate alarmists were used. When they realize that, I hope they focus their anger on the people that used them.

Vox with a BOMBSHELL admission in the wake of the demise of RCP8.5. “Those numbers shaped a decade and a half of climate journalism, including a lot of my own when I covered climate change at Time magazine. I didn’t always know — and didn’t always communicate — that the scenario behind the most apocalyptic, attention-getting findings was largely an attempt to imagine how bad things could get, not a true forecast. But I wasn’t alone. RCP 8.5 was a frequent background presence in climate journalism.” vox.com/future-perfect…

Please enjoy the letter my great grandfather wrote to his daughter (my grandfather’s sister) when she returned from her freshman year at Columbia hung up on a young man. Full of brutal but necessary advice.

"Sexual reproduction" is a contradiction in terms: the whole point is that you are not reproducing yourself - you are creating something entirely new, in conversation with what you desired & valued Your children are not you - they are a living expression of what you aimed at

@SophieAnde49073 Um, we have no shortage of crazies here. My first hint was when I started visiting in the 1990s and picked up the City Weekly, I found it nearly unreadable for the shrillness and rage in virtually every article. No other city's arts & entertainment rag reads like that.

I hate seeing news like this. I mean no disrespect to him but you guys have to stop doing stuff like this once you have kids and a family. Its not worth it. "But we diminish the importance of our bodies and jeopardize our physical well-being by going to unusual and dangerous extremes searching for an ever-greater and more exhilarating adrenaline 'rush.' We may rationalize that surely nothing is wrong with such seemingly innocent exploits and adventures. However, putting at risk the very instrument God has given us to receive the learning experiences of mortality—merely to pursue a thrill or some supposed fun, to bolster ego, or to gain acceptance—truly minimizes the importance of our physical bodies." - Elder Bednar

A paraglider who died in a crash near Corner Canyon in Draper last week has been identified by family members as Christian Wright, a 35-year-old Marine veteran and father of three. Draper police said Wright was paragliding with friends last Friday after initially launching from the Orson Smith Trailhead before traveling to Bureau of Land Management land outside the city, where they continued launching. Investigators believe wind gusts caused his parachute to lose lift, leading to a fall of about 75 to 80 feet. Police responded to the area at 9:19 a.m. Friday. With help from the Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter crew, officials later recovered Wright’s body. In a social media post shared by family members, Wright was described as a “careful and experienced paraglider” who loved adventure and the outdoors. The post said he enjoyed rock climbing, skiing, trail running, camping, mountain biking and flying. Wright served in the United States Marine Corps from 2008 to 2016, including a tour in Afghanistan. Family members also said he volunteered in Search and Rescue efforts in his community. “He was always up for a challenge and fully committed to anything he put his mind and heart to,” the family wrote. “But nothing compared to his greatest joy and his greatest purpose in life, which were his children.” Wright leaves behind three children, ages 7, 9 and 11. Condolences to all who knew and loved him- links in comments

@megbasham @BreeSolstad Good a theory as any, Megan. I had several crushes on my 1970s schoolteachers but never imagined any sort of connection with them. It’s so bizarre.

Here’s my theory. This is all resulting from the extreme emotional immaturity of so many young women these days. Psychologically, they’re not any different from teenage girls themselves. So when they get put into these positions, they still want to be the queen bee and the cutest girl in the room. And the way to assert that dominance is to attract the boys in their schools that are attractive to the underage girls these women are trying to compete with. It’s sick, but this is my theory.

A willingness to do the right thing even when it doesn’t benefit him personally, and it makes the wrong people mad. One of my state senators got a law through the state house that prevented cities from collecting money on traffic tickets issued by robot-cameras. All funds had to go to local trauma centers. The city councils were furious, as they had been looking forward to all that free money they could squander. He stopped them, and it probably made no boost in his polling.
