The heaviest batch of rain is expected over the next several hours. With many locations having already seen around 1-1.5 inches of rainfall, it is important to stay alert for any Flood Advisories or Flood Warnings that may be issued through the rest of the day.

"A long-duration, moderate to heavy rain event is unfolding generally along the urban corridor of I-95 from Washington DC through New York City. Areas of 0.25-0.5 inch/hr rain rates should continue to spread northeastward with time, causing issues with excessive runoff."

@LadaMokusa @johnbryanesq How interesting. My late neighbor had a painting that looked almost identical, except there was a Native American looking toward the river, instead. Same wooden frame. She passed away in 2013 at the ripe old age of 95. Her daughters sold most of her stuff at a yard sale. 🙄

@johnbryanesq Purchased for $200 at an auction, the sitter’s name turned up on the back - Zadddock Pratt. He has a town named after him, and a museum dedicated to him, in the Hudson Valley. We donated the portrait to the museum. A few months later I discovered he is a relative.

Here’s one of my favorite discoveries… Imagine you’re at a flea market in West Virginia and you see this chair, that nobody wants because it’s sort of impressively ugly. But something about it says buy this thing, because it’s just so unusual. So you buy it for a couple hundred bucks.

@stop_fossil_fue @WxBrianD Ah, got it!😁👍Since you have short days, can you use wind turbine instead of solar panels? We have small scale solar lights that allow batteries to be changed out if lights go dim. We can recharge dead bat's w/AC wall charger or in car w/transformer plugged into lighter socket.

I am growing concerned about widespread power outages for millions of people on Tuesday and Wednesday. Trees and power lines will not be a match for southeasterly wind gusts of 50-70 mph. Western and northern New York, in particular, do not often get such strong southeasterly winds since the strongest winds typically come out of the west off lakes Erie and Ontario, so trees are not used to being bent in this direction. On top of all this, a serious flooding threat will unfold, similar to the one the week before Christmas. Heavy rain on top of a fresh snowpack will undoubtedly lead to flooding.
