Two pics I took of the Crab Nebula (aka M1) about 12.5 years apart. Using these two pics I was able to estimate that the supernova explosion that created this nebula took place at about the year 1046AD. In fact, it happened in 1054AD. Only off by 8 years. #astrophotography

Took this picture of the Crab Nebula (aka M1) back on Feb. 28, 2022. Total exposure time: 130 minutes (a stack of 260 30-second exposures).

A nano-sized camera developed by researchers at @EPrinceton and @UW can produce images comparable to those of a traditional lens setup, which is more than 500,000x larger in volume. 📸

Here's my picture of the Halloween Full Moon taken last October. Took the pic with my 10" Ritchey-Chretien telescope set up on my driveway.

Here's two pics of the Crab nebula that I took about 12 years apart (2006 and 2019). The nebula is noticeably smaller in the 2006 pic. Assuming a linear rate of expansion, I estimated that the supernova event happened in the year 1045 AD. It actually happened in 1054 AD.
