🚨FAKE BRACES ALERT The number of Nigerians getting fake braces is increasing daily, a lot of quacks with no clinical skill in orthodontics now apply braces for patients especially spa owners. BRACES professionally known as FIXED ORTHODONTIC APPLIANCES are appliances used to correct malocclusions (poorly arranged and aligned teeth in the mouth) they are usually done when patients battle speech, masticatory problems and also psychological trauma from poor aesthetics(lack of confident smile). Braces if not done by professionals may lead to problems ranging from exacerbation of malocclusion to Temporomandibular joint disorders and orofacial pains, this aside wastage of money paid to quacks for treatment. Today I will be giving you some hints on how to know if the person you are meeting is a professional or a quack. Here are some common red flags 1)If the alleged dentist starts treating you without a cast(model) of your mouth, a cast is the device that shows exactly the replica of your mouth after taking an impression, an image of a cast is shown in frame 2, please run…! That person is a Quack 2)if the alleged dentist starts a treatment without taking you to an X-ray machine called a lateral cephalometric X-ray, a lateral cephalometric X-ray is used to make a confirmatory diagnosis of your malocclusion it’s an X-ray that shows the position of your jaw with relation to your teeth and other maxillofacial land marks, this is used to make confirmatory diagnosis and to track progress of treatment, a lateral cephalometry is shown in frame 3 and 4, 3(machine) and 4(radiograph) if the person doesn’t take such X-ray of you please run, you might actually be dealing with a quack, please run. 3)if the person charges you below 600k, the cheapest braces are done in federal hospitals and are between the range of 600k to 700k, so anybody doing it below this price in Nigeria obviously wants to scam you(private clinic charge more higher, because it requires sophisticated devices and takes a long time to treat) These 3 are high yield 4)other ways to spot fake professionals are lack of confidence in their skill and guess work like other professions (seek for second opinions) Have a blessed day and help me repost

Earlier this week, I received a letter from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka Dental Students Association, appealing for urgent intervention and support of about ₦40,000,000 to upgrade their laboratory and scale up the department’s graduation and induction quota as part of their re-accreditation process. Out of respect for the national mourning following the passing of our former President, I refrained from making any public statements during that period. Now that the mourning has officially ended, I felt it was important to act without delay. Today, I visited, because we cannot, in good conscience, continue to allow our young people to suffer due to leadership failure. As part of my unwavering commitment to advancing education and healthcare in our dear nation, I made a modest donation of ₦15,000,000 to the University of Nigeria Dental Students Association to assist in their continuous education as students of the medical and dental department of the school. I continue to question the kind of country we are building, where our leaders and public servants spend millions on luxury cars and ignore critical areas of development, health, education, and pulling people out of poverty. It is a tragedy of misplaced priorities. When we fail to prioritise education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation, but invest billions in conference centres and bus parks, we betray our youth and undermine the future of our dear nation. We must invest in the future of the Nigerian youth. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Peter Obi visited UNN dentistry department in Enugu today to evaluate the state of things himself. He promised to intervene and he kept to his word as usual. UNN Dentistry department are the only ones in the entire South East accredited for dental surgery. They are only allowed to graduate 15 dental surgeons yearly. 15 persons serves a population of over 60 million persons. His intervention there will not only aid their accreditation but also aid the process of increasing the allocation to 60 students yearly at a start.

Nigerians don’t understand tragedy until it happens to them. It is actually sad. Every day people are kidnapped and some murdered in Enugu. Security of lives and properties are the number one priority. If that is not guaranteed, everything else doesn’t matter. Sochima Onoh who was gruesomely murdered in Enugu last Saturday is crying for immediate justice. He is a final year student and they cut his life short in Enugu on Saturday. He committed no crime. His blood will not go in vain!
