Bruno Guimaeres has the same G/A as Enzo in the league in less games (& from deep). More physical/defensive edge, with similar passing influence + authority on the pitch. Very similar talismanic character. Enzo is probably better, but Bruno G is arguably more valuable in the PL because of its physical nature. He’s been a top 5 CM itl for years, but always been out of reach. For the first time Newcastle look ready to sell some of their stars & would likely be open to him especially due to his age (could maybe even use Delap as bargaining chip). Feels like the most obvious/realistic plan of action if Enzo goes, that solidifies us for a few years at least. Enzo OFFERS a lot to a team. One of the midfielders I could count on my hand that matches up (& could even, dare I say it, feel like an upgrade). Xhaka to Leverkusen type buy. If you want “leadership” “PL experience” you cannot look further than him. All the other top targets are likely going elsewhere. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to this, but the Enzo stuff seems to be heating up.

Trevoh Chalobah on Xabi Alonso: "It's a really exciting appointment and we're looking forward to that next season. His career has been amazing and it’s not a surprise he’s a manager now. You can see that obviously he loves football..." [via @ChelseaFC]

Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Xabi Alonso as Manager of the Men’s Team. The Spaniard will begin his role on July 1, 2026, having agreed a four-year contract at Stamford Bridge. Welcome to Chelsea, Xabi!
