@the_stone_club A lifetime ago, must have been around 1980, when I was a young illustrator myself, I had a very nice chat with Roger when he gave a talk at the Association of Illustrators in Piccadilly. His work is eternally wonderful and I hadn’t seen this one before, so thanks for posting!

@ValleyPriest @giles_fraser Kew Gardens is one of my favourite places in the whole world. As a boy, I used to walk the gardens alone at least twice a week, back when it cost an old penny to go through the unmanned turnstiles. Shame the high entry cost these days makes it inaccessible to young nature-lovers.

Fascinating lecture this evening on the moral virtues of gardening. By the eminent philosopher Professor David Cooper. 7pm Jodrell Lecture Theatre, Kew Gardens. Part of ongoing collaboration between St Anne’s, our exciting new venture “Kew, Theology and Gardens” and the @kewgardens. All welcome. Tickets on Eventbrite.

@HerbsandDirt I was a chronic asthmatic, ventolin inhalers hadn’t been invented, treatment was belladonna and effedrin. Also had terrible skin problems, not diagnosed as dairy intolerance until my twenties. Medical science has evolved a lot in half a century.

I was in elementary school in the 70’s. My experience: Did not know ONE autistic child. No one had a gluten allergy. No one had peanut allergies. No one had milk allergies. No one was bouncing off the walls from ADD or ADHD. No one had autoimmune diseases at that age. No inhalers on the playground. Anyone else?

In 1999, waitress Tonda Dickerson was tipped a lottery ticket and won $10,000,000. Her colleagues then sued her for their share. Then she was sued by the man who tipped her the ticket. Later, she was kidnapped by her ex-husband and had to shoot him in the chest. Finally, she went to court against the IRS.

Cancel Culture The first time I was cancelled I was six years old. I was holding my father’s hand. We were in Ladbroke Grove, London. I looked to the building on my left and saw, in the lower left corner of the front room window, a postcard. It read: “Room To Let No blacks No Irish No dogs” Age six I knew I was first on the list of what years later would be known as “Cancel Culture”; Though few think (that far). #CancelCulture

A small Leopard Slug (Limax maximus) cosying up with some Common Shiny Woodlice (Oniscus asellus). Also, check out the Slug Mites 🔍 (Riccardoella oudemansi) who will likely spend their whole lives on this slug, which could grow to around 15 centimeters.

@madjanev @BertB61027155 @KWalach_ Wow, that's amazing to see. Finding eggs of the tiniest things is bordering on miraculous at the best of times. Do you know the approximate diameter of a single egg?

Here's something very special for you today - baby tardigrades still in their eggs! 😍 You can see them exercising their stylets, and finding out what their macroplacoids do... I think these are most likely to be Hypsibius cf. dujardini. @BertB61027155 @KWalach_ #tardigrades
